The front looks better overall, the rear doesn't. Im glad they got rid of (or just painted) the black slit thing in the front part of the hood, but now its on the back bumper, wtf.

Yea I dont like the LED lights either - LOVED the old lights. Oh well.
They have yet to update the website, but the cars also get a small power boost right?

They just integrated it into the bumper now like they did on the GT2's. Completely functional though. The slits on the rear bumper do look bad but then again, functional.

I don't like the shift knob. Thats really my only complaint. Lets all chip in $20 and buy 1 as an "IA Team car".

It's a good look. I like how much variety Porsche gives you with the 911.
I think that are 50+ different ways to have a 911.

I'm pretty sure i posted this before but one more won't hurt.
I've read the entire facelifted lineup will recieve DI but the GT3 DOES NOT? I have to read further in to see why not. There are other things that have been improved like Porsche's Variocam tech.
I thought this was great as well.
"Later this year, the GT3 will be available with a set of newly developed PADM (Porsche Active Drivetrain Mount) engine bearings. These special engine mounts automatically recognise hard-style driving, and adjust the normally elastic engine suspension and bracing to a firmer setting. "
Here's the official video if you have not seen.

That's pretty slick though. Check out my thread in Car Talk on the Panamera. Some of the new things for it are sick.

Here's a bit better info.
The current 911 platform, known to Porschephiles as 997 Gen II, was launched in the fall of 2008 with the Carrera and the Carrera S. Both cars debuted with Porsche’s latest six-cylinder boxer engine, featuring a one-piece crankcase and direct fuel injection, and an optional PDK dual-clutch auto-shift transmission. The GT3 will be the only car among current and future 997 Gen II variants with an old-school, split-crankcase block and conventional sequential fuel injection.
That’s because the GT3 is the homologation car for various production-based Porsche race cars, from the GT3 RSR to Grand-Am Cup cars, and all of them (not to mention the Grand-Am Prototypes) use the old-style crankcase cast in two separate halves. The GT3’s split block engine is more time-consuming and expensive to build than the newer engine, which has far fewer castings in general, and it’s not readily suited to high-pressure direct injection. The good news for Porsche freaks is that the split-crankcase boxer still hasn’t reached its development potential, and the new GT3 drives the point home.

That looks like a good read.
I can't believe that homoligation part left my memory. Well, at least the GT3 RS won't fall under that burden.
See the scaffolding? :boobies:

I like the Gen 2 997s much better than the Gen 1s. In person the LED tails are hot, upgraded engines are pwn, PDK is awesome and I love manuals, and the interior is a bit nicer. PCM3.0 is cleaner and better than before.

You're absolutly right.
I Saw my first Gen II at Road Atlanta and it was a Carrera with the PDK. You really take in the details by walking around it.

Si! I was driving back from Tampa a month or 2 ago and saw some LEDs coming up on me about a mile back so i slowed to see what it was. Ended up being a second gen 997S and all those LEDs on the back end are crazy hot. We ended up flying up the highway for a good bit. Car looked really good though. Can't wait to check out the second gen GT3's in person
