Has anyone ever done this on a turbo car. Namely a vw with a 1.8t?

I had a customer come in to get a oil change today. I noticed it was burning oil, and smokin out the exhaust. He said his daughter over filled the oil so he took it up to the dealer. They did some shit. Told him everything was good. He was just gonna get an oil change, but they wanted to charge him $100. So they just put some atf in the oil. It started smoking at the dealer, but they just told him it was the aft. Then they took a look at it again, and told him that he needed a new turbo. Parts and labor came up to 3000...

I think the atf fucked up the turbo, and the dealership is responsible. I've heard of people doin it on NA cars, but never on a turbo car. I know his daughter over filled the oil, but its strange it started smoking AFTER the put the atf in.

Whats your opinion?

I think the dealer need to eat the cost, and put a new turbo on it.

ive done it on all my NA cars, but ive never heard of it on a boosted car. i would imagine it could fuck a turbo up though...

Whats the miles on the car/turbo? Slim chance the ATF caused the Problem, That ATF will make it smoke and could take a week to burn off, all depends on how much was used, ATF is old school, SeaFoam is better in my eyes.. ;)
But Good luck tring to get money from the dealer :lmfao: ..

Later!!

I don't know the miles.. I know the turbo can go out whenever, but it seems strange that the turbo went out after the ATF went in. I'll update again tomorrow, after I speak with the guy some more.

atf and motor oil are actually pretty similiar in composition, id say they are looking for a free ride on a bad turbo. although i don't understand why a dealer would put ATF in a car. I have seen a few cars smoke due to being overfull on oil however.

If the car was ALREADY overfilled with oil, then adding more oil is already one of the biggest issues especially ATF. Will cause smoke, and a good amount of it.

But as for your turbo, I have no clue. Nissan use to tell us to only do it while it was at the shop, and to NEVER let the car leave the dealership with it in the car.

But seafoam is the shit.
