Hey all, I am wanting to go to school here pretty soon, but I am stuck on which way I want to go. Automotive repair vs Computer repair? I like both and wouldnt mind doing either, but which is more worth it? Which is in more demand right now? Which one pays more? Feel free to post if you have any experience in either field and how you like it.

As far as long term, getting into an IT related field will pay higher. With enough experience you can eventually break 6 figures easily, doing IT. I don't believe automotive repair can touch that, even if you're SAE certified. Unless you own your own shop.

Yeah, but not just repairing computers. If the OP is talking like PC and laptop repair, Geek Squad type stuff, you can pay the bills with it but you won't be making 6 figures by any means. Plus, that field is pretty saturated right now. You need to learn more than just fixing hardware.



Are you talking about entering some sort of certificate program or an actual degree?

in either situation id like to go to either a 2 yr or 4 year college and get a degree. And im up for anything computer:it careers not limited to repair
