Picked this up today for my wife. It's the new Ruger LCR, the first polymer/alloy framed revolver on the market. It's a .38spl +p, and holds 5 rounds. It weighs in at a whopping 13 ounces lol. I wanted to get her something ultra light that was rated for +p ammo. After seeing how much they are selling for on gunbroker I'm thinking about listing if for sale already lol. J/K I'll probably keep this one. Let me know what you guys think!

I have shot one; however, with the plus p loads it can have some substantial kick for a woman. But for its intended purpose I am thinking of getting one of those or one of the airweights in 38 for a back up ankle holster gun.

well my wife is 5'11" and athletic. If she can shoot my .45ACP, I think she will do fine with the .38 +p's. I guess we will find out for sure today. :D

Thats kinda cool. Let us know how she likes it. The egg shaped trigger guard is kinda funky, i must admit :D

A bit too heavy for my tastes.

well the only thing lighter would be a rubber band finger gun.

Ok so I took the gun out and put about 25 rounds through it while my wife was out shopping today. She didn't get a chance to shoot it. She's going to try it tomorrow.

So far I am highly pleased with it. The recoil is pretty light considering the weight of the gun. When firing 38spl +p rounds the recoil is similar to a 9mm automatic handgun. It's also pretty accurate to have such a short barrel. Shooting at a 12" circular target, I was able to hit all five shots in the center 3" ring from about 10 yards, and that was under medium-fast fire. When firing slow and steady I was able to produce a tighter group than that. I'm no expert marksman, but I would say that in terms of personal protection, this pistol is accurate to hit vital areas multiple times from 10-15 yards. Chances are that you ever have to pull a gun on someone to protect yourself they are probably going to be closer than 10 yards...

The gun also cleans very easily. The different exterior coatings wipe clean with a rag, and I had the barrel spotless again with just one pass of a cloth strip and nitro solvent, no brush.

I am torn between one of these and a 442. I like them both.. we shall see.

I held one at the gun show. Light as hell. I was not expecting it to be as large as it is. I might have to pick one up one day.
