View Full Version : Lost Key for Rims, what to do?
SOMEHOW I lost the key for my rims, and need to take them off. How exactly do I go about taking them off? Anyway of finding out how to get the right key(maybe its universal and I can get it from Summit/autozone etc)? Will a picture of the lug help?

if it's an autozone security lug nut, just go to autozone.. if it's an OEM security lugnut, go to Honda.
lame.

Go to AutoZone or Advanced, and I know the security lug code: 552
Check it.

Spline Drive is the name for that type. I got my key as discount tire couple years ago. You can probably grab them at autozone as they sell the same style.

Actually, Muteki... My bad.. I retract my previous statement.

I've pulled those off with a socket before. 17 or 16mm gently hammered on then used a torch to expand the socket enough to knock it out with extension through the other side...or just go get a spline drive key.
You do huh??? so are you the one I need to blame for taking my wheels an I had some 552 lugs on it too!Locking lugs are so generic is just about pointless, anybody that steals wheels probably has a key that will work...there's always more than one way to do it too.

if you can't find the correct key, I bought a "emergency lug removal kit" cause a buddy of mine was in the same situation as you. Its a reverse thread socket that goes over the lug, and as you tighten the socket, it loosens the lug. Down draw is that the lug cannot be used again.

Ever visit an AutoZone or Advanced? They have about 20 different security lug sets, using the EXACT same key. Anyone with $10-20 can go in and buy a security lug key..
Annnd, if I was one to "STEAL" wheels, I definitely wouldn't be driving around in my paid off S2000.. I'd either be rocking an integra or civic of some sort, with about 20 different different colored body panels... or a box chevy riding on 24's.
You're thinking about the punk-asses that go out and live off that sort of shit... :police:

I have used a 12 point socket before and it worked. Just dont expect to use the socket or lug again.

Or you can always use the F&F Method...
Just have her jump onto your wheel, spray a little of nitrogen onto the lug, and give it a good crack with that hammer.. ;)
