FPS for PC suggestions

Many years ago i used to play quake2 & quake arena alot. I recently build a new pc and would like to get back into gaming, so im looking for suggestions on some PC FPS games, preferably with online gameplay.

What are the specs? Off the top of my head Stalker, Crysis, Battlefield 2, The Orange Box and Left 4 Dead.

Quake 2 was awesome. That's pretty much the last fps PC game I played online. I still think one of the greatest PC FPS ever was Thief. The graphics suck balls by today's standards (and weren't even that great back then), but as a whole the game was so freaking incredible. No online play though :(

I loved quake 2. You could drop to the command line and enter a server IP address. i used to host a server myself actually. it was awesome because i would enable the hook mod etc.

I decided to get back into Counter-strike : Source today.

Very addicting game.
