I was driving to the bank this morning to deposit some money.

So on the way, I pull into the complex/plaza or whatever and i hear a BIG CLUNK under the car. I turn around to find out what I ran over, and it's a friggin CAR JACK!

So I pick it up to get it out of the road and get back in the car to notice the Check Engine light's on. The car's Idle is fluctuating from 1000 to 1450. It was metal on metal and it was hard.

What do I do? I was thinking I could make the city of Peachtree City or Fayette county pay for the damages since it's not my fault there was a car jack sitting in the middle of the road.

I'm going to Autozone when they open to get a diagnostic test to see why the CEL is on.

Stupid people suck! :2up:

I had a friend that ran over a jack in the road. But he did it in the middle of the day on a straight rode. I understand your's being at night. I hope you didn't mess anything up to bad.

at first i thought the transmission casing was cracked because in 1st gear it was acting really funny..

maybe a dented/punctured oil pan or something.. i dont know but i dont like it.

I wouldn't drive it too much then until you figure it out. I doubt you're going to be able to do anything until daylight. If the oil pan got dented/ damaged, I don't see why that would have anything to do with 1st gear acting funny.

Here's the email I sent everyone involved in public works and road works in the county and city.

Hi, I am William Humphries. I was driving to Washington Mutual today and as I was pulling in, for some reason there was a very destructive object in the roadway as I was pulling in. I drive in and hear a loud CLANK under my car so I turn around to find out what it was and to get it out of the road. As I get back in my car, I see that my Check Engine Light is now illuminated. I would like to know what the city is going to do about this occurrence. I do not find myself responsible for running over something that should not have been there in the first place. I will be visiting the DOT and Public Works of Fayette County and Peachtree City today to get some information. Email me back as soon as possible. My contact information: (XXX) XXX-XXXX Cell phone (XXX) XXX- XXXXHome phone Email me back at [email protected] Sincerely, William Humphries.

Holy crap bro. Sorry to hear man. AutoZone is just going to pull the code and that's pretty much all they know how to do. Good thing it's a Honda and easy to repair. :goodjob:

I doubt you'll be able to get anywhere with the city in regards to them paying for it. But, if you do that would be cool.

lol they told me to talk to my insurance company..

not gonna happen.. its either, they do something, or i leave it alone and reset computer and hope for the best.. the only difference in driving is the idle.

once the rain stops, i'll look at it closer.

well thankfully i reset the ECU and the CEL is off.

looked under the car and it's a very slight dent in the oil pan.

i'll post the pic in a little bit.

Be careful with a dented oil pan. There is a chance that the oil return line is bent which will starve your motor for oil and then you will spin a rod bearing.
