So i found a b20

I found a clean teg with a b20 for a cheap price. Is the b20 a strong motor stock or would you have to build it into a b20-vtec? Just wondering. I am in college so i would dd it 45 miles aday just to school. would it be worth making the swap now, or wait until i can get another dd and just build and boost it?
Finnaly is it better (stock b20) than the stock ls?
