Anyone able to tell me if i can obtain an GFL if i was convicted of aggravated assault when i was 16, but i'm 27 now? I was a minor then and charged as a minor, someone told me the record should be sealed and it shouldn't affect me. is this correct?

If you were convicted of a felony, no.
If you were convicted of a felony under first offender's status, yes.
Your "record" is not "sealed" to gov't/LEO. It may be to employers and general public, but any conviction, even as a juvenile can be seen by gov't/LEO IF it wasn't actually exponged under First Offender's plea.

X2 ^^ - best thing to do is contact your local magistrate court where they issue the liscense and ask them.

thanks for the input guys, i tried contacting the magistrate court and everyone i talk to gave me a different story... LITERALLY.
So, I don't know what to believe. The thing is, last year I got my citizenship and the Dept. of Homeland Security couldn't even pull my record. They had me to go the court and sign a form asking the judge to release it to them, else they couldn't pull it.
So, I was thinking if the Dept. of Homeland Security can't pull it, can the FBI/GBI?
Also, yes it was a felony and yes it was my first offense. I got time served (waiting on trial -2 mon.) and probation.

It is very likely you will not be allowed considering you are a violent offender. I cannot say for sure, but I believe that is how it is.

oh.. and i would never give out that much personal info about myself online to strangers.. but with that being said. I know in GA when they send out GFL that people have filled out that are not natural born citizens they go to 2 places instead of one. It costs $35 in my county to get your GFL and takes about 7 days. It might be worth it to fill out the paperwork and see what happens. The issuing authority is the background check folks anywho.. They have to process your application wether they "think" you cant get one or not.. my two cents.
