I bought a car this past weekend titled in Tennessee. It was a used car bought from private party. When i go to transfer the title into my name, will i have to pay a sales tax or anything? I've transfered numerous titles in GA and never paid anything but never done an out of state title. I know in GA you aren't suppose to have to pay a tax at transfer unless it was bought from a dealership or business.

INPUT PLEASE

from my understanding you don't have to as long as its from private party

^yea i think its about the same as buying a car in GA.
but thats as far i know of. the only time i've seen any complications come up, was if the car had a rebuilt title. then go thru inspection and all that fun stuff.

clean title, private owner. I looked on the GA website and it said sales tax if bought from BUSINESS OR DEALER, obviously the title shows it was neither of the 2.

Matt, It's the same way, just sign it and blah blah, the only difference is the price, the OOS fee is like, $10 more? I think when I did mine from Fl to here (For my midori car) it was $25, instead of the 15-18 It usually is.
