Have you ever wanted to give back to an organization that did somethign for you...

When I was in high school I was in a Latin(the dead language) Club, yes it sounds very dorky but here in the state it is referred to as GJCL (Georgia Junior Classical League) and on a national level JCL. Basically I was turned on to this my freshman year at Central G'nett b/c all of the upper classman told me about how cool it was; it was the only language club that had state/national conventions, etc. So my sophmore year I went to Collins Hill when it opened and later started latin club there and my senior year held a position on the state board. Needless to say it was an awsome organization I made tons of friends at state/national level. Every year the national convention is at a different College throughout the US. In 98' it was at UMASS (Amherst, Mass) - there I met what would later become my wife Kate.

So as you can see I have quite a history with this organization and every April they do a state convention. April always reminds me of GJCL so today I emailed them to see what I could do to start a sponsorship for my wife and I to pay for one student to go to national convention each year. I don't know why but I think they have given so much to my wife and I it is just the right thing for us to do (plus it could be a tax write-off).

That is a great idea.

I am not at the financial point where I can sponsor a kid, but I volunteer at the Boys & Girls club, as well as various other orgs. All I can give is my time, so I do it as often as possible.

It's pretty cool there! You can work with the youth group or the younger kids. All you have to do is go to the B&G Club website and pick a location/community and fill out the app.
