Ok here's the deal. My friend got picked up a car this weekend and ended up gettin screwed over big time. it's a ls but the motor was blow and they tried to hid et he knock with transmission fluid. Well long story short got a new motor but no tranny. The question is would the fact that they put transmission fluid in the oil line affect the tranny at all considering it ran just fine? I mean the thing shifted fine and all when we drove it even when the engine started to die no grinds at all. Just wondering how extensive the damage would potentially be and if so if it can be corrected fairly easily without having to replace the transmission as well. any help would be appreciated

you do know transmission fluid and engine oil dont mix right. sooo hiding something wrong in the motor isnt going to get inside the transmission. soo if the transmission is fine. check the fluid maybe even change it seeing as you get doped already and hope is all works out.

i figured but still double checking doesnt hurt if either of us (mainly my buddy) is wrong. I figure it should be fine otherwise except for just the annoyance of us having to fix his dumbass mistake. I never really messed with transmissions period. Other than that everything else is fine. honestly i didnt eve know you could hide knock. but i figured i help cover the bases before we start pullin this thing out in my garage. Thanks

This doesn't make sense to me at all. Your story is very hard to read/understand. Why would trans fluid being in the oil in the motor, have anything to do with the transmission?

Why would trans fluid being in the oil in the motor, have anything to do with the transmission?if you didnt know trans fluid and make a engine quieter but will destroy the seals. you can use to help desludge a motor and to help pump up a hydraulic lifter if one is sticking.

use Honda Manual transmission fluid in the transmission, and engine fluid (like Castrol 10w40 or 10W30) in the engine. Its not hard...But make sure you do a thorough job of flushing the old fluids out first....

I know that. He was asking if the trans would still be ok. What does trans fluid being in the oil, have anything to do with the transmission. See what i'm getting at?

tranny should be fine....

as stated before. the fluids dont mix

if you swapped longblocks and still dont know that the transmission fluid and engine oil are in different sumps then you shouldnt be turning wrenches on cars.
