View Full Version : Being Out of Shape FTL

I just got done running for my second day in a row and starting over sucks. I have been lifting but not much cardio wise beside rec. sports during school. I hate having to break through the wall to get my endurance back up to where it should be for someone my age. I will prefer a good oval track and a ipod to the treadmill and the TV any day regardless though. Anybody else getting into shape as it warms up.

Ya this first year of college got me. To much partying and bad food lol. I am going to focus on my cardio really strong for the next month then start stepping up my lifting to balance them both out. My goal is to be at least in the 165 area by the end of this year. I'm at 151 at 5'10 currently so I got my work cut out for me.

Not knowing your daily schedule, how do you feel after running? I imagine you have been doing it for a very long time so do you still feel that sore at all after doing it so much. Do you guys every have hydration problems or do you get the chance to hydrate before you run?

Yeah, I've been lifting pretty regularly lately and trying to work some cardio in. I just hate it so much. I can't run unless it's on grass (I get nasty shin splints on hard surfaces), so I generally just do stationary bike. I just hate it.

Dam i know what you mean. I am in the process for the last 2 months of losing weight, and only lost 8lbs! :( But my cardio has gone through the roof since then. :dunno: Though wished i weighed what i did about a year and a half ago. 6'0 198lbs then, then got up to 240lbs and back down to 221lbs! Another 21lbs to go!

Yeah, I usually hydrate at night before bed. Not in the morning because I don't like to run after drinking water, LOL. I have yet to de-hydrate and usually have time prior to physical training (0630-0745), work call is usually 0900, so you have time to shower, eat, hydrate and rest a little....

Ya I'm not fat and I'm not just skin and bones. I got a good build I know I can enhance it further though. Especially knowing where I have been at before. I have played football since the 5th grade so I know what it is like to be in shape and the feeling is great.

Oh ok, I'm always interested on how you guys live while your stationed at various places. I start to hydrate 4 hours before I run. I've learned my lesson about being dehydrated, muscle cramps are no joke when they get real bad.

x2 Gaining weight is pain in the ass, losing weight is much easier in my book.

LOL @ the guys that say they have a 6 pack but not really. Even when your stomach is rubbing on your spine, kinda odd when you lightweights don't have a 6 pack though, or 8 pack......When I was a tiny guy I did, but now I weigh over 200 and those are the days of the past.

Gaining is the easy part actually, increase your carb and protein intake. Losing it when you get it on sucks, trust me. I weight 252 right now and still running 4+ miles 3 or more times a week. Keeping up with you younger guys still as big as I am, LOL..... :bump:

Starting full-time cardio today. I lift, but I need to shed my freshman 30 from 2001 LMAO! I am not grosely fat, but I can definately stand to lose a good amount of BF.

Going to a local track and planning for 6 laps daily.
