you should be bitching about obama himself, who gives a shit what that skank is wearing, thinking hes going to take over the world, forcing ceo's out of companies, forcing companies to merge, before theyll give money, let the car manufacturers go bankrupt, so that they can renegotiate the pay the union workers get and get it in line with everyone else, instead of $70/hr in paid benefits and time (this number can be as high as $77/hr depending on the company and year) these people should be making in the area of $30/hr

in '07 there were over 721k workers, surviving spouses, and retirees that were getting benefits and outrageous pay through the UAW

with over 180k active members in '07 making crazy money no wonder they have no money to for r&d, or to use better materials on their cars, if they were to go bankrupt and get their wages in line with other companies not associated with the UAW they would be able to produce cars that people could afford with better materials and reliability....but that wont happen, the UAW was a huge backer of obama, and hes going to do everything in his power to protect them, and now we have a man whos never run so much as a lemonade stand telling car company ceo's to back down, as if he knows what the fucks going on

Meeting with dignitaries is just what a First Lady does. Jackie O, Lady Byrd, Nancy Reagan, Hillary etc all hosted state dinners and met with dignitaries and such. I watch the news when I can and I haven't really noticed them covering her that much. But the past couple of years he news has kind of drifted off to the realm of celebrity worship and I guess it's her 15 minutes.

Do you realize how many companies the US Gov't has bought out? Do you understand the blow that filing Chapter 11 would lay on the industry? You think unemployment rates are bad now, Chap 11 would have doubled that. Sure they could renegotiate with the UAW, but the automakers would also screw the suppliers in the industry. The american people have long lost faith in majority of the American brands.

GM filing bankruptcy would land them in the same FAILBOAT. The banking system is crippled and the gov't would STILL have to step in to help fund the $50 billion process of Chap 11. If this was a normal scenario bankruptcy would be fine. Immediate changes would begin (plant closings, product cancellings, etc.) to begin the restructuring process.

My biggest gripe is that I feel the money will not be used in the most effective and effiecient manner.

So yes, I have gotten my common sense. It's easy to say let them fail, but in THESE times, its easier said than done.

that bailout was a joke, not one of the fools in washington who voted for it could have ever read that entire bailout before casting their vote, we're being led blindly into a safari hunt with no guns and i fully expect to be eaten sometime soon

stimulus packages are supposed to directly effect our economy now, that bullshit stimulus has money in it that wont be spent for years, not to mention it creates shit that throws extra burdens on states/cities/counties down the road when the govt money runs out and theyre left holding the bill

the auto industry is on a democratic piloted plane heading for ground now, theres no stopping it now that obama thinks he can run private companies

In all fairness, Mccain was not any more equipped to deal with and handle the current state of the economy. Time, smart strategies, and decisions are the only answer. There is no immediate, quick fix.
