I really like 4 different titles...

Bioshock - overall amazing game that sets the par for the genre; everything about this game is a 10

Kayne & Lynch - very cool story line and could make a great movie; i like how controls force you to learn how to aim

Left 4 Dead - best zombie game ever; amazing concept - play as zombies hell ya

Orangebox: Team Fortress 2 - by far best online team shooter; cell shading is goofy but hey so are the characters in TF2

It could be because it is the last game I played, but Bioshock is AWESOME. Great storyline, good length of gameplay, the use of plasmids and DNA modifications is really cool, too.

I do have to say that the Halo series is up there just because it brought FPS to a higher level, the COD games are really fun, Army of 2 is good, but kinda short, Left 4 Dead is awesome, but waaaaaaaaay too short.

I have heard that Farcry 2 is good, but haven't really played it much outside of some multiplayer stuff with my friends, RE5 looks totally badass and I am sure it is.

cod4 is awesome. online play is great.

never played the storyline.

cod waw i heard isnt as good as 4.

other games i havent had a chance to play. i played the demo for RE5 and i didnt like it. i like the original gameplay, i believe its called 3rd person shooter. (RE1 and 2 is my favorite of all times)

lol. Don't get me wrong, I liked the game... but it's nothing ground breaking. Plus I hated that you can't save your progress and come back from a checkpoint.

Halo and COD have the best online play. Far Cry 2 has amazing single player gameplay. The AI is pretty incredible and there are so many ways you can approach various missions. It's a free roam FPS, I've been waiting for that since GTA. I wish they'd catch on a little more.

Farcry 2 is the worst damn free open game i have ever played. It looks good, and has good shooter mechanics, but as a game it self it fails so fucking hard.

Orange Box should win because you also get Portal (probably the most fun I've had out of a 360 game) and you also get the Half Life series (one of the best stories I've played). I also voted for Bioshock (probably the best story I've played on 360), it is engrossing and has a great soundtrack, it's pretty brilliant, the only downfall being that it's FPS only, lame.
As for shooters though, I give props to Gears 2 and Halo 3 for being a ton of fun and good at what they do, they are so much fun because those are the games that everyone else has and everyone else is playing, so there is always some fun to be had. Also, when you have a giant game with tons of people playing, then you have people creating other games within the parameters of the world, like zombies and such. I'm sure the same goes for COD4 as well, I just never purchases it, I was broke when it came out and didn't want to try to catch up with all of my coworkers.
GTA IV should be on the list, just for being such a limitless sandbox of a game.

i honestly cannot consider re5 as a shooter. but if it is up there, how come dead space didn't make the list? i love the resident evil series, but DS dwarfs it as far as scares and gore. both games are a blast to play though.

downside to the poll is it's 360 only. killzone 2 is the best shooter i've played. period.

dead space is unbelievable. i beat it, then i beat it again with the military armor, then i beat it in the impossible mode, which really isnt impossible.

fuck i forgot about DEAD SPACE... dead space was way better than they lead on to be... also if you haven't seen the anime definitely check it out it leads you up to the beginning of the game :goodjob:

If the respawn is set to far.. But if its set to near, you get spawned in the middle of the action (not always a good thing)

modern warfare 2 sounds good to me. but i just started playing waw. i dont see it being as good as modern warfare but i may be wrong. i didnt like cod4 as much as halo 3 but ive been playing cod4 way more than halo. so mine would be b/t cod4 and halo3. but halo is pretty glitchy. cod4 doesnt seem to do it as bad. if i shoot someone.. they die. halo, they turn around and start shootin back. its poo i tell ya lol

what do you mean start with it? the military suit?

after you beat it, it will save anew file and it will take you to chapter 1 again, to get the military suit you have to find a store, it costs like 90k

so i have to find a store to buy the elite suit? i figured you could somehow start w/ it then just upgrade it like the other suit. i hit probably every store in the first time around, so i guess i need to play it again to try to find it.

just don't do what i did and start a NEW game and then save over the completed one. make sure that after you beat the game you go load your save file that says COMPLETED GAME and start that one. it'll take you to the first chapter again, keeping all of your weapons and leveled suit that you finished the first time around.

I'm not a first person style shooter so I quickly got attached to gears of war. COD was difficult to learn (only played it a handful of times) I played...Timeshift but I just don't like 1st person shooting.

Correct me if iam wrong.

On halo, you cant even aim, all you do is shoot. So how is that a good game? GEARS, you cant even shoot when you jump? SO how is that a good game. And I played so many shooters other than cod4, and none of them can even compare.

Ill tell you my first time experience on halo. It was about 2 months ago.

Coming from cod4, i decided to try halo. Im a person who would try every game before judging it. I went online, first ever game, first time ive ever played halo, i got the top score and no one was even close to my score. I said to my self, wtf, freaking newbies need to come on cod4 and see what a shooter is.

Gears: I might be mixing this with another game, not sure. First time ive played gears, i tried to jump and shoot, nope. I tried to drop shot, nope. :screwy:

COD4>COD5>COD3>REST

Haha, how does one little design difference automatically make it a bad game? Having an aim button is not like the end all be all of a fps. It's like the majority of other shooters out there where you're always aimed.

If it was your first time ever playing it means you'd be matched up with a bunch of newbs anyways. I remember the massive amounts of ownage I dealt out the first time I played. It's easy when you have little Johnny who can't figure out which button is the trigger.

I actually have grown to like the online gameplay of COD4 better than Halo. However, this does not mean it's a bad game by any stretch. I feel like any fan of the FPS genre should be able to appreciate the franchise.

BTW, I will say the ranking system is far better on Halo. You actually have to do well to rank up, instead of just playing day in and day out. It's always entertaining to ravage a gold cross on COD4 and realize that as bad as he just played, the kid must not have a life. :)

Because shooting from the hip is unrealistic, and so is running around with your sights up 24/7. Halo sucks for FPS enthusiasts because the game was done to bring people into shooters. It's not a refined game like the COD series. It's simple, any 5 year old kid can play it and do well at it.

Not the case with COD, which is why I enjoy COD more. You never see kids playing in the Hardcore matches on COD4, which helps me enjoy playing online.

I hate playing with children, therefore, I hate Halo.

Yeah, I think it's the only FPS that I've ever started and didn't finish it after multiple attempts.

I dunno, Airborne was weak overall in my mind. No structure to the missions, but they still lack a good open-ended mentality. Allied Assault was an AWESOME game, as was Breakthrough and Frontline.

Has anyone beat the Chernobyl level in COD4 on the hardest setting? I'm talking about the one where you are running to wait for the chopper. That is the only one i couldn't beat on that setting. COD5 was easy though. Beat it on the hardest setting in a few hours.

Yeah, the only part on COD4 that I haven't completed on the highest difficulty is the Mile High Club.

That Chernobyl mission is a BITCH. Best thing I can recommend is to set up your claymores where they initially come out at, and set the C4 up near cars. That way when you trigger the C4, the cars explode and kill more combatants.

If you can, before you get to that point, hold onto your M21, but I always grab a G3 at the early stages of the mission, before I even snipe Zakehev.

Yes it's unrealistic. So is getting shot multiple times, hiding behind a wall until your screen stops blinking red, and then running into combat again. It's convential for games to have no aim button. Props to COD for having it (like previously stated I mainly play COD4), but this just isn't something that takes away from Halo for me (much like it doesn't take away from Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake or Half-Life).

I will agree that there are less kids playing COD4 than Halo, but I wouldn't attribute it to the gameplay, much more just the overall theme of the game. Although I have encountered numerous little shits playing hardcore td :)

One more time, I play COD4 considerably more than Halo 3, but I certainly think Halo is still an excellent game.

I can't quite agree with that. My nephew chooses to play Halo3 because it's easier, and some of my friends say they'd rather play Halo after drinking since they can't concentrate and aim well enough on COD4.

I dunno, I always correlate Halo with children since there is no difficulty to it.

Still, the difficulty of it all depends on how good you are at it since the matchmaking system actually puts you with people of a similar skill level (basically my only complaint with COD multiplayer).

Hahaha, if I've had a few to drink, I just go play Forza and do some drifting. If I play COD4 while drunk, I end up using something that explodes and I usually go for whatever moves first. It's not good when 2 of your teammates eat an RPG and then another one dies because you have Martyrdom turned on, hahaha.
