from your experience and what you, who makes the best automatic transmissions?

Im looking to buy an automatic car, cause we have a 98 accord and the automatic transmission on all 98-02 all suck, the 94-97 were okay, but i would like an automatic tranny that you can change the filter without taking the trany apart (usually american cars,) if this means i have to buy an american car then i guess american it will be, i know some chevys and ford have some tough automatic transmissions

thank you for your input

I think chevys turbo 400 is the best I have ever owned, I had a Allison, before and had a problem with it 2 times..My turbo 400 lasted me along time with my big foot too!

ZF is a strong company. That was going to be my second choice but too ordinary in cars. I wanna see an Accord with an Allison transmission...and Duramax diesel lol!

I've been in the transmission business for about 10 years. From my experience, I can tell you that now days, in a passenger car, if you treat them all the same, they are all going to last about the same amount of time regardless which manufacturer you choose. I will set the allison apart from this though. That is a medium duty transmission in a light duty vehicle, so they tend to last a good bit longer when they are taken care of.

QFMFT!! I've experienced or witnessed tranny failure in the following model, all ranging from 98-03.

Acura CL/TL
Honda Accord
Honda Odyssey

Like the others said, your options are nissan or toyota. It seems as though most toyota AT are bulletproof like their engines. I'm not too sure about nissans though... maybe only their GTR tranny suck ass

okay, i have searched and i think im gona go with a camry, i dont really like the style of the body but at least you can change the transmission filter without removing the tranny, plus with a bigger transmission oil cooler i think it should las quite a while

LOL at buying a car just for a tranny. So many other things to consider IMO. Good luck tho.

thank you guys for your inputI bet it's got body damage on it within a month or two. A Camry would make a bad driver out of Hans Stuck.

Uhh..it depends on how the car was treated. It could be the best auto trans. in the world but if it's got 150k on it and never had the fluid changed at regular intervals then..no. Allison and GM get my vote.
