True story.

Nothing good comes from myspace.
People get fired because of it.
Relationships are ruined because of it.
People get arrested because of shit they post on it.

I got rid of my myspace months ago and it hasn't bothered me one bit...I don't even get on facebook that much anymore either.

i saw a story on this the other day, girl sent a picture of herself and a friend in their underwear to a boyfriend and both were charged with child pornography.....both of the girls parents are suing the district attorney because for breach of rights or something like that, saying its nothing more than bathing suits

i say who cares....its just schooling them for their futures

myspace = the cause
stripping/hooking = the effect

and why the hell didn't ran post the link up when he first saw it?

Not the parents fault, they could be saints yet kids will act like kids. Our society and media pressures ppl into all sort of things. I knew one kid in high school whos parents were both heavilty involved in church yet he was a coke addict.

Kids act dumb and make mistakes. She shouldn't be punished with 17 years. Not even 1 year. She should get a warning or community service. I think it's bullshit to expect our young teens to know about every little law, and while we all know that things like this are illegal, she might not have, and even if she did, she prob did it without thinking there would be a consequence, much like how the majority of us has at one time burned music illegally.

I think the gov needs to take it's focus off her and start worrying about more important criminals, criminals that really do need to be locked up for several years.

I think that parents should monitor their children more, but the sad truth is that there are some parents out there that just plainly dont give a shit. THen again there are ones that do and they just do everything they can and their hellians still do stuff such as this. I feel that if the girl was brought up correct in an atleast half structured home she wouldnt have done these things for attn. I know that I grew up in a broken home and still coudlnt have done sometihng like this. I have had a myspace since the first couple of months that they came out and I have saw some pretty crazy stuff with teens. ME, personally if I was a parent, I would have the password to my teens if they wanted to have one, so I could monitor it. Hopefully the gov't wont go through with the charges. That is insane. No way a child at that age could think about the consequences. She SHOULD have some form of counseling and community service though IMO.

Honestly you can't monitor your kids every moment, and if you try to be excessively controlling, you'll make the situation worse. Kids needs space, and to learn. Making mistakes is a part of life. It's an important part of life. Some just make bigger mistakes than others. If you tried to monitor a kids myspace, they could easily make another one....All a parent can do is instill socially acceptable morals and ethics in ther child, but either way, it's up to the child to do what's right.

It's only from making mistakes and being wrong that we have a realization and reevaluate how we thought. After all, when we think we're right or we know something nothing can be learned form that. But if we jsut found out that we were wrong about something we'd have to think about why we thought we were right and realize well damn, I just learned something.

Wow, really, they have nothing better to do now than to TRY AS HARD AS POSSIBLE to convict someone of posting pics of themselves online??

BanginJimmy
03-29-2009, 10:22 PM
Ignorance of the law is not a defense against a criminal act. The girl knew that posting nude pics of herself was illegal or at the very least wrong, I can assure you of that.

On the other hand, there is also the case of the 17y/o that had nude pics of his 16 y/o ex g/f on his cell phone that may be charged with child porn also. He does not deserve the sex crime tag for the rest of his life either.

My final point. I am sick of all this "he just made a mistake" BS that I hear in the media and on these forums(not just this one). If you know you are doing something illegal then you need to be punished for it. I dont care if it was a first offense or not, you are still in the wrong. Vick made a mistake so he should be treated more lenient. Hogan's was a first offense so he should be treated lenient. This chick was a first offense. Where does it end? Its about time that you pay the price for your transgressions, whether you have been caught before or not.

Doesn't myspace say something about posting nude pictures to begin with? That was her key not to post nude pictures.
