Killer

So, i'm looking to move to n. ga... i know times are hard and slow.. but i'm looking for some employment..

BUT i don't have a resume.... never had to have one.. all jobs i've had were sorta 'given' to me through friends..

so except for in highschool, when i didn't have a job, i've never written one up.

and i don't have word so i can't use their layouts...

Current job is tech support for a dental software company/minor sales...

looking for a job in the some what same fields as tech support/customer service (stated in the other thread looking at maybe some wireless companies)

can anyone help me out on what the proper format is??

i can email you mine that my uncle help me to put together. its a pretty clean cut simple format. if a person in his position helped me to put it together w/ that format w/ no complaints, it must good

PM me your email address.

There is not really a set format for a resume. Things such as education, years of work experince, field of interest, etc. all play a part.

If you have had many jobs or gaps in employment, you can do a functional resume that displays your skills/duties. If you have had position changes and want to show progression, a chronological resume would suit you better. Targeted resumes are directed at the job position you are applying to; highlighting your skill in relation to what they want in a potential employee.

Blah blah blah.....I am tired of typing.

VP of fine arts club i'd put that..

but voted most talented i'd skip that..

in the skills section put all the microsoft things on a separate line not like how mine is all together, so it looks fuller.

she isn't free but she is working on her PHD in English and is a senior editor now so her wording/format skillz are 110%... it is well worth the money and i know for a fact it shouldn't be more than 100$.

trust me resume writing is an art and if you are applying for good corp jobs then you need to look your best:

100$ resume
200$ suit
getting the job you want = priceless ;)

Sammich

she may do it for 50$ i don't know b/c she sets the price on how much time it takes her... but i can't imagine it being more than 100$.

Here is one I recently sent to a chiropractic clinic that got me an interview tomorrow. I know there is a lot of fluff in there, but I wanted to fill up the page. Along with a cheesy cover letter lol.

This same resume got me an interview with a photography company too. Just changed the cover letter up a little bit.

Haha good deal.

I am in the process of changing mine up a little bit as I have quite a few achievements from this past quarter in school. President of a club, vice president of another club, 1st place in a state marketing competition, competing in Anaheim in an international marketing competition. I have quite a few things to add.

i agree.. i feel like i need something to make it stand out a bit more..

but my skills/interests aren't of use in most office situations (not that i'm not a good worker).. but being a musician/being creative/artistic are kinda my skills...

so i don't really know what to do to some how incorporate any of that..

and the jobs i'm going to be applying for prolly won't want to see that stuff anyways..

aguynamedpat
03-26-2009, 06:51 PM
See what you ninjas think about this one. I changed it up a little bit to add accomplishments and key skills.

Finally got all the boxes to line up. I had to re-enter all the stuff into the template, but it was worth it. Looks GREAT on paper too.
