I have an 03 celica and I want a custom exhaust to help the car breath better. Not sure if this will be better that a cat-back exhaust but I'm hoping it will be a lot cheaper. Any suggestions on what shop and part I need to get?:???:

Well on alot of cars the cat just bolts in, but on your car its made into a large part of the exhaust pipe. Your best bet would be to have a custom exhaust made so they could weld it on after the cat.

save up, buy a skunk2 legit exhaust, and get a full cat-back

you cant get a cat back for this car. you can either get a custom exhaust made or buy an axle-back exhaust. please dont spout off information if you dont know what you are talking about.

"BREATHING" has to do with the intake.

If you want the BEST setup, stock exhaust system with a e-cut out.

If you want loud all the time, 2.5" all the way out. And if you go turbo, it sounds so hot.

He could always use the cat back off of either a E36 M3, SRT4, WRX (few SRT4/WRXs found in this price), LS1 fbody, RSX, civic EP3, or MB CLK430. Later, QD.

Green91 & MrBoostedCRX- knock it off.

CRX-you said it yourself, you friend has a HEADER BACK EXHAUST! The cat is welded in so you can't just "replace" it without cutting it.

green91 is correct. The midpipe and cat are welded together on the Celica. The only aftermarket bolt on exhausts are axlebacks. You can just have a muffler shop make you some custom mandrel bent 2.5" piping with a resonator that bolts to an aftermarket axleback and welds to the cat.
