lol man you should hear how many guys used to complain about scratching their helments when they fell...they kinda miss the point of what it's there for...and erin are you one of the guys that hits his new helment on the ground before he goes riding with it the first time

uhh no, i try my best not to damage my helmet.. but it's got some good paint scratches on it already from rubbing against the cage in my car.

and come to think of it, i was out for a ride earlier to pick up some oil for the car and i think i passed this guy on one of the backroads over near the mall. i was too busy paying attention to where i was going, but i believe he was in a t-shirt and cargo pants, no gloves, and tennis shoes.

lol sounds about right for a green kawi at the mall...and my friends with all their sport bike helments and street bike helments for superstition sake hit it on the ground so that the first damage to the helment is while their head isn't in it

You know everytime a helmet gets hit it loses its ability to absorb impact. The more expensive ones I believe are composites, which would mean when they start debonding its over.

yea helments are only made to take 1 solid impact and then it's time to be replaced

i guess my helmets doing great then.. it's had lots of impacts, but then again it is a SHOEI

Cliff

the foam inside a helment is made to absorb an impact once then everytime after that it slowly compresses the foam so that one day you will wreck and the helment will have about a 1/2" of padding and it will crack and serve no purpose...so one good wreck and it needs to be replaced and anytime after that you are just playing with fire....

i think some high end companies such as arai will actualy check your helmet out if you ship it to them, dunno if they still do, i think SHOEI does this for some of their helmets as well.

Cliff

yea last i heard they both did it and somthing about if you want to they will give you another helment for a killer price if you choose to stick with their brand after a major wreck
