MrBoostedCRX

its stupid how people put high prices on their cars for sale..its dumb, they might need money, but damn that high?

example, my friend bought a 99 civic si supercharged, stock outside look, low miles, new jackson racing super charger, 10/10 car for only 5900, if the guy on here was the one that sold theirs almost a year ago that was red, i have recent pics of your old beast!

but anyways...i see people EVERYWHERE selling their SUPER DUPER CLEAN SI for 6, and hell even 7 fuckin thousand, thats...

i just wanted to call out ridiculous prices...that is all

lol sounds like somebody is just too broke to do anything but whine about prices. people will price something as high as the market will tolerate. guess what.... people pay good money for those cars. is it overpriced? technically. will they get it? most likely.

I think there is merit to what the OP is trying to articulate...I have noticed that people have been asking unrealistic prices for their cars, based on what they feel the mods performed are worth, i.e, people asking 10k plus for beat up EG Civics simply because they are K swapped. Just because you went out and spent an outrageous amount of money for a swap doesn't make your car worth what you have "invested' in it, as anyone who has been in the game long enough knows you almost never get back what you have put into a car.

k swap 4k
parts to make k swap run another 4k
eg hatch 2k
so thats 10k in parts not including labor it would cost you over 10k to build so how are they asking to much again? i have been "In the game" almost 10+ years and still have not lost money on a car with mods.

Because you never get what you put into a car...particularly when it's a beat up pos with just a swap....I'm pretty sure that this is universally known but then again, this may be just my opinion...Whatever the case, I'm just stating my opinion, and not because I can't afford to buy said overpriced cars....I just choose not to.

Im with the OP, alittle lol. People asking $6000 for a EG with a intake, that costs $20. Or $10,000 for a Boosted EG, shit i know everyone tries to get as MUCH for their stuff as possible. But $10k for a 15yr old car? You could get a 05+ s2000. Just saying. You won't get the money you invested in the car, unless you put $100 in it and got the car for free lol.

There was a silver one on craigslist with like 101k miles for $10,500. Its not there anymore. You know theres EG's with intake and headers and exhaust that cost them all together $300, they want $5000 for the EG automatically.

Arm&hammer
03-22-2009, 09:12 AM
and to the op, people can post whatever price they want for their car.
its their car. the price on a car depends on the condition of the car. if the car is a piece of shit nobody is going to give him what he wants for it. if the car is actually a good car its worth more money.
just dont be an idiot when buying cars. and your not even going to buy the overpriced car so why bitch about it?

Reality and common sense > sentimental value or money+ blood, sweat, and tears....
At some point reason should take precedence over what you feel your car is worth because of all the "investments" you have made....I would imagine that most everyone knows that adding enhancements to most cars ( notice I said most) doesn't equate into added value. More often than not, mods bring down the resale of a car, in relation to retail value.

Few reasons people over price their car:
1.They know that there is always gonna be someone to low ball them. . They know, if they put the actual price of 7k, someone will low ball them to like 5k. By putting 10k for a car thats worth 7k, a serious buyer will call them, and tell them something along these lines:Hey man, i checked out your car, i think its worth around 7k and thats my offer. This way, they will get what they wanted in the first place.

2.in hopes some ricer will come along and go, oH WOW, IT REALLY MUST BE GOOD IF IT'S THAT MUCH MONEY, and buy it.

3.WHO CARES, its their car. might be a car that takes people back to the past or to the future.

Any tard with half a brain knows that when you try to sell anything, it’s a “give and take situation.” As in I’m willing to take whatever you’re willing to give. As stated above, if what I’m selling is worth 7k and I ask 10k for it, there is a chance that some idiot will come along and be willing to pay the 10k with out question. There is also yet another chance someone will actually do their homework on what you are selling and offer to pay in the ballpark of the actual worth of 7k. And yet another chance that someone will offer you 4k for your product that is worth 7k, so it’s your obligation as a buyer to read up on what you’re buying and make the decision on what is an acceptable price for the product. If a seller thinks your offering price is unfair/to low and rejects your offer then you can either rethink what you are willing to pay for the product or just move on and try to find another seller.
