A stock d can hold about 180whp and still be reliable. That is a good bit of power for a civic. but if you put some decent rods and viteras you can see upwards of 300whp

there are people getting great numbers out of a d series in the recent past some that i have seen with somewhere in the 500 range not that im recomending that but it depends on what you have on hand and what your will to do

deffinately worth it if done right, and you can make around 220 safely and it will be reliable....on stock everything that is.

For the price of a B series swap you can boost it and then some. Go for the D. If you search hard enough you can turbo it and build the bottom end and make a good 350+ for under $3k.

stock d's can easily hold quite a bit more than 180whp reliably. ive been doing it for 5+ years now.

yes you can. d-series.org is a good site.
homemadeturbo.com is good too

if done right it's fun and cheap for a streetcar. it really depends on your goals. obviously b-series have way more potential.

reliability and longevity is dependent on the setup. my d-series just passed it's 6 year boosted anniversary.

I reliably held on to 210ish whp in a 8 psi setup on my old Turbo D.

it's all about the tuning... Just make sure you get it tuned and don't push over 10-12psi of boost and you will be fine.

ask scotty from MSPi.
he was talking about running a boosted STOCK MOTOR for a DD and breaking over 200hp. he has also mentioned a few times boostin the shit out of it upwards to about 17psi, and around 280-300hp. but not for long though.
he is who i would suggest talking to about this.

Better? Same car but before AWD. Point is, boost it.

I am gonna start collectin parts for my turbo build now. I have a d16y7. I am still reading up on dseries.org and a few other fourms to get a good idea of what set up to run. Its gonna just be a fun daily, and hopefully reliable. I am prob gonna spend more money on getting it tuned than i will on the whole kit, but i keep reading that its all in the tuning. Let us know about your build or anyone else on here that has said they are goin to boost their d.

mine is still running strong. i have a built spare waiting to go in that's been ready...just too lazy and not enough time to do the swap.

don't totally cheap out on the setup...do it right. even the best tuning can't make up for a bad/crappy setup. choose your parts wisely, take your time, and get it tuned.
