cracked headers

ok so i was driving one day and noticed my exhaust sound a little louder than usualy(no radioanymore) so i popped the hood and found a lot off soot on the block. so i decided to turn the car on and too my surprise i found out that my headers have a crack were the header tubes meet at cyl 3 and 4 before the collector..... my question is how did it happen and why.......they are dc sports 4-2-1 headers on a single cam civic. is it becuz i drive too hard cuz i drive the piss out of it each and everyday w/o a problem. is this a common problem for hondas or what?

probably stress on the exhaust. like not enough hangers down stream.

I have had DC Sports crack on my Civic, and the Racing Beat header on my Miata cracked every runner, I just welded them back and good to go.

BTW you have A header, not headers.

And, it's like everything else. Eventually, its going to break. Just take a welder to it and call it a day.

oh the hatch is never gonna get sold.... but i mean i thought dc was reutable company. im thinking about just buying 4-1 and calling it a day. its gotten even worse yesterday i revvd my motor and i saw freakin flames shootin out the crack

do you have a flex pipe or spring bolts? on the header or exhaust? if not.. its gonna keep cracking!

yeah they had spring bolt on them. i think years of driving and abuse is wat caused it cuz i drive it HARD everyday and i guess they just cant take the heat

sometimes the spring bolts dont cut it, put a flex pipe on the header, it will save you alot of time in the future getting it re welding....after your "abuse"!

flex pipes are always a good thing for an aftermarket header.
