I'd add Saarlouis, Germany (Euro Ford Focus RS)
and Campbellfield, Victoria, Austrailia (Ford Falcon)

They continued making cars there up until late '07 and then closed it. i work down the road from it. it is now torn completely down. plans are for another "atlantic station"

Wow I've seen that! Right past Hartsfield-Jackson. Wonder if the Doraville plant will follow suit.

Bacon

If I am not mistaken, the Doraville plant is already closed but not sure what they will be doing with it. The only reason the Ford plant closed was because they built a new assembly plant for the new Taurus and Sable. Im not sure how another atlantic station type area will work on the south side of the city. But yeah, it would make a good arena for auto-x as long as it was cleaned up a bit and maybe smoothed out.

But when a Ford is done right, we still never get any credit. It's not everyday you see a near 14sec Contour roaming the streets.

well 14sec is nothing to brag about...

For a 3000lb. family car? It ain't bad, but could be better.

oh great, an "atlantic station" with planes landing and taking off every 2 minutes 100 ft above you LOL.

Too bad the price of metal is so low. They'll still probably make more money from the scrap than from the Taurus and Sable, haha.

Bacon
03-12-2009, 09:35 AM
The airport right there may contradict with plans for that area. We could talk to atlanta and see if they will let us auto-x there. not sure how well that will work but we could see.

SPOOLIN
03-12-2009, 09:51 AM
its not airport property, you aren't launching anything into the air, the only thing that could be an issue is "tire smoke"

Bacon
03-12-2009, 01:16 PM
There wouldn't be enough tire smoke to cause any problems. Wouldn't be a problem for me.

I just need 4 steel columns and a bunch of girders and web trusses :(

I'd then be the first person to built something useful from that plant!

It will. The GM plant closed doors in Nov. '08. Construction to disassemble the building is scheduled for Spring 2010.

I like Ford as a brand. It's just that I have always found the Taurus to be a terrible car.

I second that. Even as a kid I always thought of that car as crap.

The only thing I like about the Taurus is the 3.0 motor from it bolts right into my Contour and are ready for boost.
