A 450 mile round trip from Conyers to Valdosta on a single tank of gas? Truck is a 05 Tacoma, 4.0 V6, 6 speed. 190 miles each way will be highway driving, the other 35 will be main roads. EPA estimated 18 city, 24 hwy, 397 miles per tank. Fuel tank holds 21 gallons.

I get 16-17 MPG city only or 360 a tank. Now if I go 120 miles round trip to my girls in Carrollton once a week cruising average of 70-75 on I-20 and the rest of my driving in town where I get the same 16-17 MPG I will get 19 MPG, or 400 to a tank.

I think the 450 mile round trip will be possible because, 450 miles/21 gallons = 22 MPG correct? I feel with the right driving this will be very easy. My friend in Valdosta says no way because her Grand Am can't make the trip on a single tank of gas.

Edit: truck has 69,XXX on it. Factory plugs, dirty air filter. Will be getting new plugs, air filter, trans and diff service. Also just had a fresh oil change with syn. blend oil. Tire pressure will be checked before trip also. Just to make sure because we have a little wager on this one. Anything else that would be of help before the trip along the lines of reg. maintenance?

I love this truck over my Chevy for fuel mileage reasons, the Chevy gets 8-9 MPG. My civic got 38 or so.

You need too watch last week yesterdays top gear esp. THey test to see if they could travel 750 miles on one tank of gas. The JAgar Desesl Travel 200 miles further than expected. I think you can make it.

haha. in my old civic, i made it from kennesaw to douglas (exactly 253.3 miles one way) & back on a little over a full tank of gas. i filled up before we left, had a half tank when we got there, filled up before we left to come back & had a half tank when we got home. i probably averaged about 40-45 mpg ...

Truck will also be parked when I arrive and not started again until the trip home, for the purpose of this test.

i think its possible. i know the same civic usually got about 25-30 mpg on any other day, & it made 40-45 just cruising (oh & it didnt even have cruise control.) ... so i definately think its possible. keep the tailgate UP! ;) & the windows up!

Well it ran a 13.50 @ 92mph with MSD and slicks, then I took the MSD setup off (starting having a misfire) and it did a 13.75 @ 102mph on street tires.

It was missing 2 bolts :ninja:
