This event is open to every car and bike, import or domestic. It is an event put on by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts and has classes that will accommodate all types of set ups with races that range between our all motor class (usually high 12’s to low 13’s) to the competitive Showdown class (usually <10’s) as well as plenty of test and tune time in between.

V8's are always welcome to enjoy test and tune, but there is no class setup for them in competition. There really is nowhere for them to fit in. There is plenty of love for domestics at this event; there were a couple of grand nationals that attended a couple years back that were very consistent competing in showdown. Test and tune is great for someone dialing there car in since you can get plenty of runs in. I don't understand why anyone would have anything to say about your exhaust since everything goes for test and tune. :thinking:

yep, this weather has screwed my test n tune up leading to this event, if i dial it in i might have a chance at a semi placement. Just going because i want to run it. Ill be running 10z or maybe a 9 and ill be legal to do it minus a piece of paper that says i made 6 passes that cost more money than a race anyways.

For what its worth. The Supra has a full cage and a parachute now. So, he is legal.

Aint even like that. But i agree with you. I guess me getting older makes me value life more.... But no it aint becasue i dont run that fast , im a firm beliver of being safe and being somewhat fair. Ever since i started racing, i have always had a cage in my car. I like going home after a race too see my children.

true ben did do that but that was a tube type et street, i believe those are bias ply and they are DOT because MT decided that would put grooves in the compound. Those are more like DOT approved Drag slicks rather than radials.

I can guarentee I will be one of the slower cars, but Im going for consistant 13's. Last time I was simply floored by the amount of Evo's and STI's running 14's due to driver and mechanical error. Please someone get the video of my run where I was INCHES away from the wall...LITERALLY! I had to correct it, and correct again, and as soon as it straightened out, it was headed right for the wall. I two footed the brakes and it stopped just in time, like inches away. The main problem, which I thought I could handle, was the fact that I was running a radial up front with the slick in the back. I need bias ply skinnies up front. My car will be DEEP in the 10's the way it sits without a doubt. I was running WASTEGATE PRESSURE (17psi) and trapping 124mph. The car is tuned for 30psi and race gas, but after I felt how floaty it was (and uncontrollable at that), I saw no point in running even more power. Please someone get the video of my run where I was INCHES away from the wall...LITERALLY! I had to correct it, and correct again, and as soon as it straightened out, it was headed right for the wall. I two footed the brakes and it stopped just in time, like inches away. The main problem, which I thought I could handle, was the fact that I was running a radial up front with the slick in the back. I need bias ply skinnies up front. My car will be DEEP in the 10's the way it sits without a doubt. I was running WASTEGATE PRESSURE (17psi) and trapping 124mph. The car is tuned for 30psi and race gas, but after I felt how floaty it was (and uncontrollable at that), I saw no point in running even more power. Only ran 3 times because of ignition issues.

1st run 11.0 @ 131 with ignition breaking up

2nd run 10.9 @ 128 with ignition breaking up

3rd run broke an axle 20 ft out of the hole, got sideways, and almost hit the wall. Almost shat myself in the process.

You know I've heard and been told not to run radials in the front with slicks in the back. Everyone i've talked to has said it's hard to control and way scary on the big end, now I know everyone has been telling the truth..haha.

Nope, couldn't hear anyone clapping and all that. I have a lot of track experience, which is probably the only thing that saved me in that situation. I knew it was getting pretty bad at the 2nd fishtail, and just remained calm until the car stopped moving around, and then slammed on the brakes. It was nearing the wall as it stopped. Maybe a few inches, but I went back and regrouped. Made a few changes, and detuned the car to get more control over it. I knew I could win the class, but I didn't wanna hurt the car. Dan and everyone just convinced me to go back out and just get it over with. It all worked out I guess.

any educated person will know why my car went from running low to mid 10z to running 12's and high 11's at import showdown. Drag radials are lame and my car is built for slicks and that my first time EVER on drag radials. I make a shit ton more power now compared to last year and when i dial it in, its gonna be a monstar. Bottom line, Tec wil be ramped up 100 fold for the fall event and all other events GADSM presents. We missed some things that were just ridiculous (like a twin engine car) We are going to have better and more equipped check lists and dedicated tech inspectors who know better what to look for next time. So if your a cheater or dont have your battery tied down, dont cry about it when we say sorry.

On the cammo hatch note. When we were told he had two power adders and we confronted him. We aksed him to again pop his trunk and hood which he declined to do stating that he did not have NOS and we were simply believing rumors. Then he blamed us for "putting him in the wrong class" which, YOU pick your class and if he is running a supercharger, then he should have said "There must be a mistake, Im running a blower"
THEN he wanted to be switched to the showdown class. I think the higher up's just had enough of his BS and said no go for any event. If he would have been a bit more cordule and complient with our requests, he perhaps could have gotten a bit further. No one likes a cheet and just because we dont catch you doesnt make you in the right. Period.

Any hoo, my car ran rock solid consistant 13.2's @104-106 mph on 600 tread ware M/S tires, stock suspension and about 15 lbs of boost. Im happy considering it's very lightly modded and I drive it around pretty regular :goodjob: I think 12's should be easily obtainable. My 60' times were sucking this time around. my best was only a 1.9 and the rest were in the 2.0 range. I can do better :ninja:

I really enjoyed the event. It seemed to be a nice turnout which rocks considering the economic condition. I honestly would have liked to see more of the FWD cars run in the showdown class. The second place car was a 10 second car which could be run with the good FWD cars.

I will say the atmosphere amongst the 'street' cars and 'race' cars sucks big time. I think that a street driven car able to run 10's is amazing and shouldn't be criticized. I don't know Blake personally, but my daily driven Integra couldn't run a 14.8 so my car dreams of being like his at night. I also don't see the point in putting a roll bar or cage into a car that gets driven on the street. These events are an opportunity for us to get together and run our cars on the track legally instead of racing in industrial parks. It was not meant to be a drag series as is obvious by the volunteers working it. Rules are rules, but we aren't professional racers here. I think we should remember that!

On a different note, no offense to anyone who builds a race car for the 'street' class or any other class. Although my Nike's have more miles than your cars, it is amazing to see the hard work and dedication put into your cars. The power made is nice and it gives us spectators a good show; my son especially likes it. Good job and thanks to GADSM for putting in the effort to give us an opportunity to race!

It's not as fun when you have squashed all of the beef! Maybe I will try to start some up for the next event. :D

I'll start with this: Clark's car is damn fast, but still boring IMO. It's probably just me. For the past dang 6 years a Supra has won the event (besides when our Evo won that one time). It's be nice to see some underdog be competition. I like surprises.

I have to agree to a point (although there is nothing wrong with entering because you know you wil win) I entered the AWD class knowing full well I would be out gunned and out ran. My hopes were to be reliable and consistant and go as far as I could. Know what? I had a BLAST and didnt come last! I agree, it's fun to have people in the comp who arnt ringers. Who knows...high HP cars break more often so one year I may just take the class with a slower car. It wont stop me from trying and it shouldnt deture others for taking a stab at it. It's the exact same price to compete as it is to test and tune. Why not just grow a pair and go for it?

You can never please everyone at an event as an organizer. There is always some little whiney bitch...if not several. That's why I don't host events anymore. Too much work, no money and absolutely no respect for all of the work it takes to put on an event like that.

We are talking approx ten members handling an event that had 900 people and it's a tall order at times. We learn as we go often and the fall event will be even better!!

Well let's put it this way, my driveline setup (tranny, clutch, driveshaft, rear LSD pumpkin, and rear axles) was about 9k. When you start getting into the big boy stuff, Supra parts definitely get expensive! I pretty much just did what I had to do to get where I am, but even now, when I THOUGHT I was close to done, I'm not even close, lol.

LOL, yeah, I thought that too! Too bad I blew mine up at the track on Sunday! The auto TT pumpkin won't handle power at all if used with a 6spd. If you use a TH400 or built Toyota auto tranny, it'll be fine, but with a Getrag, it's toast. Now I have to go drop another $1200 for a pumpkin...a 6spd pumpkin that WILL handle all that I throw at it.
