So yeah... my 89' S10 is leaking coolant in the cabin. all signs point at the heater core being busted.

is this a hard or easy fix?

I know the newer generations are hailed as terrible to do. I found a picture walk through to give you an idea but I would say on an 89 it would be easier.

on the 89 s10 w/o a/c they arent all that hard. if u have a/c its still not that hard but takes a lil more time. there are some areas that are a bitch but 90% of it is easy.

we can get the part for pretty cheap but round a bout how many hours would Barefoot have to put into it?

coolant is leaking in the cabin would that not happen regardless the 2 lines runing into the core pull them out get a coupler stick them together heater cre bypassed. there will be no coolant running thru it to leak out. id recommend that if u dont care about heat.

ohhhh but... where's the core located? under the dash? i would still have to remove it to get to the lines? or are the lines located in the bay?
shit i need to get a fuckin Haynes manual :(

Lines are located in the bay...they run an clamp at the firewall an yes the heater core is in the inside of the truck dash has to be removed/half removed to get it out

Heater core is on the inside, behind the dash. The lines are outside in the engine bay. Good luck with the project! BTW, Haynes prob wont be much help pulling the dash out.

Do as No Mo Hondas said. Bypass that ish and when you have time during the summer, replace the heater core.
