I quit ciggs on the 12th and it has been 10 days! congrats for me... :goodjob:

The thing that sucks is for these past 10 days I have been coughing up nastyness, but I am starting to breath much better. I've realized that I don't need a cigg to survive the each day. AND cold turkey does work cuz thats what I did, but joing LA Fitness might of had something to do with it.

Hmmm.... how long have you been smoking? I smoked for ughhhh 5 years I think, almost 6, and just quit on the 2nd (20 days so far) and I haven't coughed anything up since i quit or spit.. or anything.... maybe your body build up a dependency on the sweet sweet nicotine

yea it has been hard. But in reply to HyPer50- I've been smoking for 5 years and also smoked a good amount of green. Ya know, those teenage years when you think your invinceable. Yea whatever, I turned 20 on the 8th of this month so I'm guessing this is a good time to quit.

In reply to whoever asked about how you quit, the best thing I have done is just having something else that can get your addiction, like going to the gym. My girlfriend has also been a big help as well. She motivates me and always congrats me on each day that passes without me smoking. I also have a buddy I work out with that has never smoked anything in his life and he helps with motivation as well. He made it clear that I would probably spend the same money on the gym as I would on ciggs. (It might not be correct but hey it helps me).

The biggest part to quitting is WANTING to quit.

I still smoke the green lol... Weed occasionally compared to a cig an hour.. I was actually worried that smokin' was gonna make me want to go back to cigs, but nope, all good still lol... And how I quit was nicorette gum.. but i quit having any urge to use the gum after 5 days of no smoking.

congrats!!!
smoking is nasty and very unattractive (IMHO). thats a big part of why im single now but thats another story........

the hardest part is breaking the habbit. never smoked but both parents did and both have been quit for over 8 years. my dad smoked for 30+ years and has a the early stages of COPD (i think thats it). he always tells people its not the addiction but the habbit.

keep it up. the first days are the hardest

It is unattractive, but I always thought that I looked sly and "cool." Now I have realized that there is nothing cool about it, it makes you believe that it is cool, but then gets you highly addicted chemically.

Ciggs give the impression to teens that it is the "adult" thing to do, so as long as they have a cigg in their mouth then they are considered to look older. Not so true since most adults look down on smoking.

If you smoke, don't think your cool.

lol

Very Impressive guys. Love the success stories. I have quit twice in my life so far. Both times were on Nicoderm CQ. I actually tried it 2 times before unsuccesscul. Never let anyone tell you that quitting is easy. That was the hardest thing I've done in my whole damn life. I have only smoked for about 8 years, but I smoke 2 packs a day..every day. So maybe I'll quit again soon, I just keep making excuses to start back again. I made it 4 months the first time, and 3 months the second time. I have only been smoking for a month again now, but it's so damn expensive. You have to have some serious mental motivation to get off the nic. Be with someone that won't let you smoke, like your girl, or a good friend that hates the smell and tells you that you fucking stink. Good luck to anyone trying to quit, you are the brave ones!

Good luck! I've heard that one thing to help the addiction is everytime u have a craving for a cig, suck on a piece of candy. lol i know it sounds wierd but thats what helped my mom. She always had like a huge bowl of candy in her room.

She had to quit thought she had been smokin since see was 12 and there was a threat of Emphozima (SP) She had alot of bad health problems from smokin

Yup, thats what finally got me to WANT to quit... Cause it really is a smelly habit.. And I didn't want me to be layin' there cuddlin with my girl and all she smell is just some rank smoke... Plus i got tired of havin' yellow fingers haha..... Also makes it alot easier to keep your car clean on the inside lol.. G'luck to everyone tho... I dont agree that people smoke because it's "cool" or atleast thats not why I smoked... I smoked because I LOVED smoking lol. Nothin' better than wakin' up and goin' out on the porch when it's kinda chilly out and havin' you a cig... and cig breaks at work rock too... but oh well, the consequences outweigh the benefits when it comes to cigarettes.

It is smelly, but while I was smoking I kinda liked the smell on my hands. This has been hard, but things are looking up. I have realized that there is much more to life than a cigg every day. I have used a lot of focus and meditation to help me through it and it works. Focus on the negative aspects of it and it can be rather easy.

If you really wanna quit, try to quit for a week. Make a goal to not smoke for a whole week. Then after that try to make a goal for a month, and so on until you quit. Smoking one just starts the process over again.

Yup, dont even TRY and say "ok... one won't hurt" bullllllllshit, thats why I've gone back to smokin' 3 times after quitting... Just having "1 more"... nope lol dont fall for that anymore.

That is awesome. Congrats. Best of luck in kicking the habit.

who cares if it's sooo unattractive? really...

NAw Tiff, I disagree. It's not so much that it is unattractive as it is the taste. If a non-smoker kisses a smoker, it is just the nasty taste it puts in your mouth.

I dunno, I personally don't see the appeal of cigarettes in the first place, but thats just my :2cents:
