I've decided to apply for QT as a way to work when I ATTEMPT to relocate too GA once again. I hear (or read rather) that this place is very nice. Pay seems VERY good to me for the type of work it employs and I even like the team environment.

Any actual Qt employees on the boards, I kno some of yall are out there:ninja:. Would my cashier background help me out in landing this job? I mean, if its good enough I may not even worry to much about my tech related skills and work here for a min and try to make corp. But it seems like a nice place, anyone have any objections or info I could use, to say I do have an interview?

All would be appreciated.

I'll give you the most important advice. Pass the math test. If you don't, you won't get the job.

Guaranteed or your money back.

Just remember, $20 - $10 = $15 lol

Lolol. Yes it is very easy but you have no idea how many people didn't get that job just because of that.

the oppurtunities are literally endless. im a highschool dropout. been workin my way up from part time. there is no requirement of seniority or education to move up with this company. it is purely skill based.

the best way to get an interview/hired, is a referral from someone who already works there. the way they see it, they have NO idea who you are. you cant learn a whole lot about someone from just an interview. however, they know that the current employees are good, and if they know/refer you, they trust our judgment.

tips for getting an interview-couple things. you could always apply online, but if you could do it in person, i would recommend it and:
a-go to the corporate office dressed to impress, fill out app. there and turn it in.
b-visit a store. talk with THE manager. not assistant managers. dress to impress. fill out app and if you desire, ask for a referral. there is a spot on the application for this. turn in application at store or at office. office location is posted on back of app.

it is an excellent place to work. but not to slack. slackers and non hackers get stuck at slow stores with no bonus and dont get promoted.

here are some positions and some short term advancement oppurtunities.

entry level:
part time clerk: makes 8.50/hour. flexible scheduling. monthly customer service bonus after 6 months. PT gets a bonus every 6 months based on number of hours worked in that period. for the first 6 months, i think its 25 cents/hour. second 6 month period, i think its 60 cents/hour? anyways it keeps going up for 2 years and it maxes out at like $2/hour. its essentially getting a raise, but formatted into a 'bonus' every 6 months. begin accruing vacation time after 2 years. you will work with a personal trainer for 1 week.

assistant manager: RAs/NAs(relief/night assistants) standard work week is 46 hours. that is guaranteed every week.
entry level management will work nights no matter what. there is 0 way around it. you will work with a personal trainer for 2-3 weeks. starts at 10.67/hour. after 6 months, 11.19/hour. after 1 year, 13.09/hour. begins customer service bonus+store profit bonus after 3 months i think? maybe its 6. begins accruing paid sick time immediately. vacation will be after 1 year. 1 year=1 week. 2 years=2 weeks. vacation weeks go up as seniority increases. quarterly and annual attendance bonuses. there is a $500 night bonus every 6 months after the first year for merely holding either of these positions.
RA works 2 mornings, 2 overnights, and 1 evening shift.
NA works 5 overnight shifts.

some positions to aspire to from entry level:
full time clerk:starts at 9 somethin. after 6 months or a year, i think its 10.50/hour. gets customer service bonus at 3 months+store profit bonus after 6 months. scheduling is somewhat flexible, but ranges from 36-42 hours or more, if you want more hours. vacation time=1week after 1 year. paid sick time accrues immediately. attendance bonus is available quarterly and annual.

second assistant manager:starts at 14.13/hour. decent increase in store profit bonus percentage. no more working nights. store responsibilities dramatically increase. no more extra relief. 46 hour work week.

extra relief:there are extra relief clerks and assistants. they fill "x" shift every week and for that shift, they are on call to anywhere in atlanta. if there is nowhere to go, you go to your home store. the bump in pay is generally +$1.50/hour. you MUST do a term of extra relief to get promoted from clerk to assitant, or assistant to second assistant. you usually dont drive far, but sometimes it can be very far.

i know it seems like a lot, but thats the iceberg of a LOT of information.

i will not refer you. i do not know you. im not putting my name on the line lol. but the best of luck to you.

I worked at QT off of SR 138 when I was 17, its a decent job but for the most part its a janitorial position. When you first clock in, there's a check list of duties that you must do when you first arrive at work. Everyone is suppose to do it but there will be slackers out there. After you do the quick walk and emptying garbage, you move on to the bigger list of things that need to be done. More than likely you won't spend too much time on the register but alot of cleaning is involved.

The easiest part of the checklist is bagging ice, pretty much if you're tired and worn out, this is the best thing to do.

It was an ok job, if you're looking for long-term then its very possible to advance and move up but it will take alot out of you. The pay isn't bad at all but there is one thing I have to disagree on with ksnipefox, you don't need an education to advance but you do need a diploma/some type of degree to be store manager, ask anyone.

LOL I never asked for YOUR referral. I'm more than capable of handling this type of work. I was a night cashier at Kroger day cashier and most all other positions in the store. I flew up in the pay rankings and I loved my job. But I did apply online, roughly 4 days ago and I doubt they will pick up an out-of-stater (like most jobs down there) so I'm due to visit soon and will do as u mentioned.

Keep it as a part time job, unless your completely dedicated to starting a career, and not having a life. A large portion of QT managers are single, and if not, they will be. The job is extremelly stressfull for management, and it doesn't get any better moving up to a supervisor position. The job can be fun and rewarding, I loved morning rushes, miss the insanity at times.

The pay is pretty decent as well, of course, but your definately working for it. My last year there I made well over 45k (pretaxes) as a 2nd assistant manager, but then again, I was putting in insane hours, and a lot of them were unpaid (off the clock is against policy, but of course, we all know how that goes).

All in all, its a decent part time job, but I would leave it at that. Oh, and seriously, besides getting a refferal from someone inside the company, just reapply for the job every couple of weeks if you really want it. They actually go through all the applications, several thousand a week, and have no real way of keeping track of everyone. They tend to pick random people at times, so, if your really wanting a job there, just fill out a new online app every couple weeks until you get a call.

Just to give you guys a heads up, QT is not currently employing part-time positions to the best of my knowledge. The full-time clerk positions are also being phased out so don't expect to grab a full-time job that gives you dayshift. From what I've gathered, the only real open positions are the 3rd shift overnight assistant manager slots, which is what I do. It's not hard work by any means, but the hours suck pretty bad. Best of luck to you guys.

you start off at a slow store. pay starts out like $10.70 or something like that. u start getting full bonus in your 3rd month. 2nd month u start u get half bonus. its not bad pay. bonus based on CSA and store profit.

Is all you QT employees want better quality of life.. check out Racetrac..

But all companies, especially in Retail.. when you start off at the bottom, you will have to do the dirty work and the bad schedule..

Someone said here that after you are in management @ QT is stressfull.. That is 100% B.S. That means the Store Manager doesnt know how to operate a well run smooth enviroment.
A store manager must create the tempo of the store.. Actually in any business or work.. if the leader is a stress Mess, everyone will follow..

Quiktrip is a great company... But if you want to move up, you must kiss ass all the way.. and Im sorry for the person who said in this thread they were a HS drop out.. You will not pass Store manager for QT if you make it that high.. Im almost certain on that.. If you ever pass that level, I would be shocked.

And before anyone says anything.. I never got fired from QT, I left after 5 years.

Pt clerk, Ft clerk, clerk trainer, Ft Clerk ER, Swing manager, RNA, Initial trainer, 1a relief, 1a @ couple of stores.. then Manager relief... Then quit.

So yeah, I moved around with them. I did almost every in store position with them..

You want Better quality of life, better pay, better people, better benefits, Check out Racetrac.com...

good luck.

I put in an application online and received the call about 7 hrs later.

I have a masters around so it may have helped me out. Recession sucks big time I'll tell you that college degrees don't mean crap in this market right now. Experience is the biggest key to success right now. Also who you know in the industry. Also when you apply it helps BBIGGGG TIME if you have a referral from someone that is a good QT employee. I know that played a role in my call back. I knew someone that worked with QT for 7 yrs now and is a store manager so it have helped me out tons.
