this camera's AF is spot on, quiet, fast. definitely a step up from before. sure. its a poor man's 1ds. lol. thats such a blanket statement. so the 1dmkIII is a richman's 50d? lol? seriously dude.

try af servo on a 150+mph car going by with a 28mm lens....its not gonna work, i know first hand. i mean, it works, but not near as fast.

Yokota has some.... odd opinions about canon slr's.

Obviously, FF does make a difference to some folks otherwise there would be no reason for MF or LF cameras to exist.

He *might* be trying to say that FF doesn't make a difference if all you are doing is putting pictures on standard computer monitors and/or web pages

The 1d (non s) is a 1.3 crop sensor, I think. Personally, I don't put much stock in (canon) body difference other than sensor size/resolution and shutter speed.... everything else can be mitigated by lens choice.

Also, there is nothing wrong with the 24-70 f/4. Solid outdoor lens. Personally, I think there are better ways to spend $$ on lenses than that one.... but in the end its more about how you like to take photos. A good fit is a good fit. Nuff said!

As for video... I am of the opinion that even though its a nice feature to have... I didn't spend $500+ on an SLR to take fancy video. It is convenient, but there are so many better options for video that I have a hard time believing that anyone who is a stickler for IQ wouldn't spend the bucks on a decent camcorder

24-70 2.8 is about the same price as the 24-105 f/4 IS kit lens. Ill take the 2.8 for ANYTHING any day. DOF improvement, low light, improvement (coupled with teh impressive 5dmk2 ISO makes the need for a flash nonexistent in most cases i found)

I mean, its not a bad camera, again, unless you are in a portrait frame of mind, or a walkaround. For any types of sports, it sucks

I didn't buy it as a video camera. I don't think anyone did. Its kinda cool. I don't see myself using it in a real world environment - too shaky.

I know I'm no pro. I know for damn sure that a good camera does NOT make your pictures any better. There have been a couple people around here that went out and bought really nice cameras thinking their shot was going to be tenfold better.

Enjoy the gear, ignore Yokota, I've noticed all of his posts are very materialistic, it used to piss me off but now I am just so used to it I don't care. He lives in Japan, owns a nice ass camera, has owned several vehicles you can't even buy here, he put TE37s on a Jeep and he is loaded with cash. He is just a bit pompus and throws the money factor around and he forgets that not everyone has money, or he knows and just likes to rub it in their faces, either way, I just kinda stopped caring. He's actually a really cool guy it seems, just until you bring up items, cashflow, or anything materialistic in nature. I'm sure if I asked him what kind of computer he has, I'm going to see something upwards of $4000 and an explanation for why it pwns my $600 Toshiba laptop.

He may be dogging on your F/4 lens and your non 1 series, but in all honesty they're great photographic equipment and I'm jealous.
