Just purchased my first house. Its got a single door two car garage, and I would like to somehow black out the windows. Don't want to paint them, so I thought of buying some dark tint and tinting them. Just wondered if anyone had any ideas or results from doing something similar themselves.
Thanks!

Tinting is pretty simple honestly. The main things you have to worry about is making sure the windows are completely clean. I usually clean them 4 or 5 times with invisible glass and a lint free cloth, then take a soap/water mix, spray it on the window and take a razor blade and scrape it as clean as possible, then hit it with the invisible glass again. Once thats done your ready to apply the tint, You'll need a spray bottle (put a small amount of soap (I use dawn dish detergent) and then fill it with water), razor knife, tint, and a squeegee (I bought the little hard plastic ones you can pick up at O'Riellys for like $1.50. Cut the tint slightly bigger than the area you need, pull the backing off the tint, soak the backing of the tint, and the window with the soap/water mixture. Then take the tint and press it from the middle to the edges as best you can. From there just start trimming off the excess till you get it the right size. After that take a squeegee and make a star pattern from the center out (Seems to work better than just up and down to me). Once you get all the soap out from behind it let it sit for a while, check every so often for bubbles and squeegee them out. The more sunlight the windows can get while the tint cures to them the better you are. I've done a few windows at my uncles shop, and 2 or 3 vehicles so I'm not tint expert by far, there may be an easier way then my method I just know that worked good for me.

tint for now but eventually get a solid door. we have them on our shop for theft purposes. plus it actually lowered our insurance. you can still shine a flashlight into the tint and see whats inside.

this man speaks the truth!!
they also make another window film that's "frosted." that works pretty good if you don't feel like investing in a solid door, but want something a little more secure than tint. with the frosted film, it makes everything hard to see, and distorted (so you can't shine a light through). it's also 10x easier to install compared to window tint (it's waaay thicker).

you can buy transparent black spray. similar to how some people smoke out tail lights. also i know walmart has tint that you can do it yourself with in the automotive section i believe i saw it with the air freshner/ audio area.
