Hey i just recenttly got this code and i research about it which is related to the distributor. So i borrow a oem distributor from a friend that has no CEL and tried it on my car n it still throws the same code!?!?

Additional info:

-91 crx dx with b20b swap

PRobably wired it wrong during the mpfi conversion! These are the two wires you typically add that go to the distributor.

the wirings were recheck twice and also use the multi-meter/ continuity tester to check all te wires.

what exactly does the cylinder sensor code 9 do anyways? i mean my car drives fine and all.

probably doesnt idle well... colors are orange and white... i believe...

hmm now that u mention my idling is kind of weird. And yes it is orange and white based on this diagram i used.

Got them backwards ?

Sometimes the whites get dirty, and are easy to mix with a "faded yellow"

my conclusion could be the connector but what is the chances of the connector getting bad?!? and if i keep driving with this code on will it affect my motor in the long run?

Sometimes they can push out of the back of the connector, and throw a light..

so will that code affect the engine or performance?

green91

IT will affect engine performance because the computer doesn't know where your engine is at time wise in the rotation. I also believe when its throwing a code #9 they batch fire the injectors rather than firing sequentially but i may be wrong about this.

hmm no wonder i sometimes hear a little misfiring when im driving at like 70mph. wat about the motor itself will it be affected?

Well one could assume if the engine isnt getting enough fuel or the timing is off, that yes it could damage the engine.

it can and will more than likely damage the motor over time or if you drive it hard. drive it like a grandma and you'll be ok until you can fix it at light loads.

if it doesn't know exactly when to fire b/c of the code it could over time=detonate or severly under time and egt will climb.

damn i really need to gget this fix ASAP! how will i start noticing if the piston starts to detonate? i have drive it hard once in a while but not like everyday since i just got the car swapped a few months ago.

if the detonation is bad enough it'll sound like bb's rattling in a can.
