honestly they suck.
go outside. stop shooting cups. go explore. get a tripod and go downtown one night. have fun with it. just be you. shoot how you want to shoot, but....stay away from garbage like selective color and all that nonsense.

lol, i'm actually going to kind of agree with you here... the subjects are just really crappy.

I mean I'd rather learn from experience. Learn from what people tell you. Learn from your mistakes, otherwise all you will hear (especially around here) is "great pics" "sweet pics dawg" "+1 nice pics". and then you think you actually do have nice pics. Critique is a marvelous thing. Once you start taking a finer photograph, you will know it, and its night and day. Also the #1 most important rule of critique is to NOT take it personally. Its hard sometimes man, but you just gotta keep your head up about your photography and keep going, read, learn.
and have fun with it.
