any help will get you reps:)Gooood luck! Lighting isn't the best with indoor sports like that, especially with the dark dirt absorbing most of the light.
The Fujifilm FinePix S1000fd has a 12x optical zoom for around $150-170 but it's discontinued on the usual photography equipment sites I browse. You want to look for the best optical zoom you can find.

Using the above link filter by price, optical zoom, etc. on the left side. Don't worry about megapixel too much, it's overrated.

are reman'd ones ok? they come with a factory warranty. i think i may dive into the whole picture taking thing with this. it looks pretty cool.

well if i get a reman'd one i could step up to the S2000HD. and can still stay within my budget. it has 15x optical zoom and does hd video.

dont let 15x zoom and video be the deciding factor. do your research. for a little more you can get a used G9 :)
(sorry if i keep pimping a g9, but its the best point and shoot ive used. i might buy one as a backup to my dslr lol)

im not seeing any g9's for cheap. bestbuy has the s2000hd for 216 new. i may just go with that and get their service plan for it.

350 is to much for her. shes not the brightest erson when it comes to handling things. she likes to drop shit. lol i think i may just stick her with her kodak for now and i shall delve into a s2000hd :) bestbuy has them for under 250 after tax and 4 yr service plan.
