Can't believe I had to dig myself through all the BS just to get to the reply button.

Why shove air around the engine to the back then forward against the direction the car is traveling into the engine and out the exhaust manifold still against the direction the car is traveling then back under the engine to heat up the oil pan above it? Everything before the K-series was a ridiculous concept despite being as successful as it was.

The K-series is, sadly to say, what Volkswagen did YEARS ago. It only makes sense. Intake manifold in the front, exhaust out the back, the air is always flowing with the direction of the car. Less distance for the intake air to travel, less distance for the exhaust gases to travel and the radiator, oil pan, and engine itself isn't being heated by the exhaust manifold.

Thank you. repped. That is what I was thinking would be the reason. But he didn't know why.
