So what is everyones take on this?
Vette- street/track. Only TT car.
or...
91 CRX Si- Full ITA build. Obviously not street car. Also legal for Honda Challenge.

The guy with the car. I'll see what he says.
I know its nice having something on the street. Almost all of my track cars have also been my DD. But I cant afford a truck, trailer, race car (and everything that comes with racing one), AND have a fun DD.

The race EF would be my choice. We can do this over pm's if you like but I want to know how you got started doing what you're doing and what all there is involved with it. I would love to have a road race car or something to run in the Honda Challenge. I don't really like auto-X. I want to be on a real track.

a fun dd doesnt have to be exspensive, a da with fat fives, tires i/h/e and tockico blues is like a 2k dollar car that is fun and gets good mpg and is reliable.

Money son, its money. Thats why a lot of people start off with auto-x, and thats why i'm doing it. As soon as I'm making more money again, i'll be building a car dedicated for honda challenge.
But back to the main question.
Yeah Matt, I would probably go with the EF. Its gonna end up being cheaper in the end, both build wise and maintanence, and you already know that chassis can be really competitive.
BTW - what year vette is it. The vet would be a lot of fun too, but its gonna cost you a bit more.
Thats my :2cents: .

you might wanna assess this little issue before you try to race. i never understood how you planned on racing, with barely enough money to buy gas to drive around... much less gas for racing. oh yeah, and tires, entry fees, parts, trailer/tow rig, etc.

Let me answer this one plain and simple.
If you have penis issues get the vette.
After racing in SCCA ITB for years then helping out with spec miata.
I would suggest the EF. I watch for years Tom Fowler's CRX put an owning on many cars. They always said the car was highly illegal due to how fast it was. He sold the car and the car was not as fast. It was all the driver.
But that crx would put a beating on all the ITA cars real easy.
MY suggestion is the crx, unless you have willy issues then go with the vette.

No, the reason I was asking vette or CRX is I was wanting to run TT events in the vette and DD OR get the CRX and DD my tow vehicle. I made up my mind, and will be getting the CRX and running ITA (dammit hoppe)
As for racing when I was 13, yes I was. I started autocross in a FJA (at that time FJ4). I moved into cars when I was 15 and ran my dads camaro until I got my crappy MR2 that blew up every event. I sold that and got the miata.
YES, I am a SCCA instructor for PDX's. So is Simon, and he is not much old. Age is just a number in motorsports. No, I dont have the experience as many that I race against, but I do know how drive a car better then most. Results speak for themselves.
You know, all everyone on here does it talk shit, no matter if its about racing, there car, etc. Now I know most of you havent been in the racing world a very long time if at all. You get on a racing forum, and shit talking about racing is all that goes on, so I do the same here. So im not sure the point of hating on someone? I think that there is some kind of jealousy here? Look, im getting to do what I enjoy doing, racing. Some people dont have that opportunity, but im lucky enough to have a family that has supported me 100%. It doesnt matter if you build or buy, what matters is getting on the track and having fun. If the satisfaction came in building, I wouldnt build a race car. My satisfaction is getting on the track and having a good time no matter what happens. Slow_Hatch, you were there that day my car broke. Yeah, it sucked, but I still had a smile on my face because I enjoyed what I was doing. I also what to thank you for helping to get my car running again. I don't give a fuck if your parents DID pay for all your shit, but if you're going to sit on here all day long arguing over paying for your own shit and then talking down on peoples cars who DID buy them, not cool with me. Now as far as having skill, sure, it's cool, but even if some drivers aren't as good as you, that doesn't mean they don't know more technical information about driving. I'm sure we all know someone who knows everything about something but can't do it too well themselves.

autocross = fun. technically it is racing, because it is a competition of who can go the fastest. being against the clock doent mean its not racing, but i dont think you can put it in the same category or even close to W2W racing.
road racing = what old rich guys do for fun. unless youre racing in a televised series where sponsors pay big bucks to get their name on a car, you wont be making any money off it. in fact, some of the faster guys make just enough money to break even at the end of the weekend.

Well first off, all racing should be fun. If your not having fun doing it, then you should find a different sport.
Autocross is a racing competition against the clock to get the best time. For those of you who think autocross is cheap, your crazy. I know people who have autocross budgets bigger then my road racing budget.
Road racing is not just for old guys with money. Renting a ride in road racing is for old rich people. There are TONS of young guys who are racing in many different club and national racing series across the nation. Why do you think SM is so popular? Its because you can get on track and run a whole season for $15k including the car.
Now Pro racing is a different story. What many people dont know, is that most "pro" drivers are paying for to race, not getting paid. This is happening all the way up to the F1 ranks.
