...why are you even using it? lols. I mean, granted... it's fucking awesome for Blu-Ray, but I just watched the first Jurassic Park on plain old DVD, and the HDMI cable up-converts it and makes it look 29384732094324x better than those shitty component cables ever did. Plus component (RGB) cables aren't capable of up-converting old DVDs while matching the quality of HDMI. I watched "Wanted" a couple weeks ago too, and Blockbuster didn't have the blu-ray version in stock, so I had to go with DVD. Honestly, it looked just as damn good.

Bottom line = Component still carries the video and audio on an analog signal, while HDMI is fully digital. With HDMI There is a big increase on the amount data can be carried and speed the video and audio signal travels between your PS3 and TV. This gives you a better picture and sound with less signal lag.

so converting from HDMI to 'conventional' cables is like the difference between turbo and n/a?

well that viewpoint all depends on whether you like boost or not lol.

HDMI's only been around for about 6 or 7 years now. I hope by now everyone would already be using it.

Is there a way to use HDMI cables on an HDTV that doesn't have an HDMI port? I've seen HDMI converters and stuff, but really not sure if thats what I would need to use or not.

I noticed that how the PS3 upscales normal DVDs. I watched Die Hard the other day on DVD and it looked almost as good as a Blu Ray. HDMI FTW

yes but it won't do anything for you b/c it will change the signal digital -> analog.

anyone who is using RCA is crazy... funny my brother won a HD DVD player right after they came out and i went over to watch something and was like WTF this looks like crap... he was using RCA. HDMI is the shit - those anytime? cables/devices are the shit. if you power on a device using that cable tv recognizes it and switches sources for you :goodjob:

One thing that needs to be said is yes HDMI cables are worth it.

But, don't pay more than $10 for any size.

why do i use my ps3 without hdmi at my house? because i enjoy the fucking system. i bought it because i wanted a great gaming and multimedia component. i do use hdmi for movies, but when most ps3 games right now only support up to 720p, there is barely any difference unless you are looking really hard for it.

well to be honest hdmi makes a difference regardless of the resolution you run at.

Its how the signal is transfered, not just the resolution it can carry.

HDMI = 100% digital uncompressed audio and video.
Take it via anything else like component, rca and its analog compressed.

So while at 1080p u'd notice the biggest difference there is still a substantial difference at 720p.
