View Full Version : OLD SCHOOL JAPANESE CAR MEET!!!

Time to get this fired up again.
Saturday March 7, 2009.
Mary Alice Park Cumming, GA
12:00pm
Let's pick this up where we left off last year. We have big things going on this year and we should start this off quite nicely with this meet.
Remember, Japanese cars from 1985 and older meet the requirements.
Does not have to look good at all. If it runs, bring it. We usually end up with around 60 cars at these some come on out.
You don't have to have an old school car to come out and chill. You just can't park with us, lolol. Seriously though, come on out. Later, QD.

They are to you cuz u probably dont even know how to change your oil on your car, while most of the people who own an oldskool ride apreciated and love it cuz their the ones who keep it on the road by spending time an money fixing the things that go wrong with it, becaus these cars dont have an idiot light that says "check engine" oldskool is where you really have to know your shit to be able to fix them, let alone own one, so we dont need any ignorant retards at these meets anyways.

I have an 88 ef. I think of it as old skool as it qualifies as a classic car. My car is 21yrs old!!! Thats older than some people on this forum! You guys should change the rules to include what everyone else including Hagerty considers to be classic (old skool if you want to be trendy). 89 and older. If you do you will have a much better turnout than the last meet even though it was still nice.:2cents:

He is more than welcome to stop by. Everyone is. But 1988 is out of the old school classification as far as the old school events.

We're not trying to follow Haggerty's. We're already using the template of an established Japanese Classic Show. Which will probably not include anything after 1985 for quite a long time. 1989 is hardly considered classic in most any circle. Not trying to be a smartass or anything, but you can always make your own meet to how you want it instead of trying to change the rules on something that you don't like. Later, QD.

It actually falls within the specs. If the body model came out on or before 1985 but carried into later years, it is included. Your car's model came out in 1985 and ran through 1988. So you're good. Later, QD.

We've just started calling all of the peeps we know, It looks like alot of cars will be coming out to the meet. We sold the Gray AE86 and we're gonna have to scramble to get a car or two ready for this meet. We'll probably bring the 1971 2 door corolla panel wagon (It's rough but cool) and maybe the beater yellow Datsun 710. This is going to be a cool year.

We sold it with strings attached. We'll still be able to take it out to meets and other events. I don't think it will be ready for this first meet because it needs the turbo replaced. But supposedly we're getting the 82 rear wheel drive Maxima back in time to bring it. John's just finishing up a 5m toyota supra engine swap on the orange 77 celica hatch that was at several of the meets last year, and if we get a few extra "minutes" we're going to try to bring the 1972 corolla panel wagon for its pre restore debut.
One and a half weeks to go. No sleep till cumming! What did I just say?

I had a friend tell me about this meet coming up and I may come out and check it out if I don't have anything going on. But I was wondering regarding the 1985 and older requirement. I have a 1986 AE86 and curious if that would even be counted out. I know it may be a dumb question, but I figured I'd ask. Thanks.

How hard can the rules be to follow? 1985 and older unless the bodystyle started production before 85. Does the 89 Conquest have the same chassis/body as a pre-85 conquest? (I don't know shit about them) but if they do then yes, it's old school.

There are many, many Euro meets. There are so many BMW, VW and so on meets it isn't funny. We just want to do Japanese. If someone wants to do an old school Euro meet, then by all means, go for it. I think it would be pretty cool. We've already talked about having maybe one of meets combined with Euro to have a total Old School Import Meet. Later, QD.

THAT is the true essence of Old Skool. As long as it's old, and not American.:goodjob: Break the parking lot down to sections and call it good. I love it.

Here's my controbution. I was in the grey FC RX7 that was parked far off all alone because Mazda didn't think to make them a year earlier in 85 :) Maybe since the last meet in '08 was for 85 and older, the next one in '09 should be 86 and older  Afterwards a few of us rode up through Suches and everything. Fun fun.

Thanks for the photos Brett. I had more fun at this meet than at any of the other meets at the past. Lots of fresh faces and cars. If all of the "regulars had of come out yesterday this would have been a huge meet.
Wow at the number of nice Starions! Good show Star/questers.
Lots of corollas reppin', five 70's era celicas, and other toyotas.
1 z car, It was clean and nice. Thanks for being the only Datsun guy to come out.
Ahem, Alex, Chris, Jeff...etc, etc...Lol hope to see everyone at the mitty inm May.

:lmfao: Haha, nice way to put it bro. Buddy just has no idea

We finally got it road worthy about midnight saturday night. 2 problems that was holding us back was headlights were very dim and running off of one relay and the fan was coming on for the radiator. Going back and trying to figure what was going on wasn't fun. But now is all better. I did make it to autocross, the next day on sunday. I'll send you a link to some pictures. It's in your pm box.
I sold a set of rims so I have money for a CHEAP runner If I can find something, just to guarantee that I will be there.. and somehow they reduced my insurance on the DD a good amount (probably a mistake)... also I got one ticket dropped and my 17 over reduced so no points violations.
too bad I can't find a job.. I guess it's homeland security for me
