I have a 1994 Mitsubishi 3000gt, and we had the engine go around 150k miles. We were driving down the interstate at about 65 mph and all of a sudden the oil pressure dropped very low. As the engine died, we pulled onto an exit ramp and the car completely died and would not turn over. Once we had it towed back home, the engine finally started but could hear a rod knocking. We had the engine replaced, and it worked fine.....for about two weeks. The engine had similar problems on the way home from work one day and kept stalling at lights. When it got back home, it was making a valve tapping noise. I was wondering if anyone thinks there might be another issue with the car or if it could be on the mechanic? We sent the car back to the mechanic because the engine is still under warranty, and this time they decided to have it shipped out to a Mitsubishi specialist. Should it be fine, or is there something else I should maybe look into fixing? I tried fuel filter and a few things like that....but that didn't help. I appreciate any advice.

welcome to IA and welcome to the world of 3000gt rod knock. i'm surprised it made it to 150k miles! if that second motor was just a used motor, then you probably do have the same problem AGAIN. if the mechanic just replaced the motor and didn't rebuild, then he did everything right. 3000gt's are known for spinning bearings (mainly the vr-4's). hope mitsubishi fixes it for you.
