Go to a stereo shop and listen to whatever Pioneer (or whatever brand you think sounds good for the price Infinity, Alpine, etc.) speaker that fits your car in a 3-way or 4-way, you'll be happy. I went to Pioneer's site hoping to find the speakers they used to make with the compressed horn in them, they were loud, they didn't sound the best, but they did the job.
Just go ahead and get a coax, if you're planning on cranking them really loud and aren't planning on picking up a decent amp to amplify them properly, then there is no use in spending the money on a component set, they wouldn't sound right once you cranked them to the point of a distorted signal anyway.
Also, 80% is a good line to stop at when your listening to your music. Whenever you crank up the music to the point where you don't notice the voices getting any louder or they start to sound muddy and less crisp, cut it back a little. You aren't doing the speakers any good by clipping the signal like that, it just heats up the voice coils until it melts, sounds cool, but it isn't (except the cool crunching sound it makes when you move the cone after you take it out to replace it).
I think what I'm getting at, and sounding like a tool in the process, is that you should get whatever makes you happy and what sounds good to you, but I'd be a jackass if I thought I was original in that sentiment.
-Be cool.

You might want to look for something with a metal tweeter. They are usually more efficent, and alot brighter that silk or composite.

That is all about taste. I hate metal dome tweets and prefer silk dome. I dont like how bright they are and prefer the smoother sound.

Word. I was spoiled early on with Boston Acoustics silk domes in the Pro series sets.

^^ I am the other way around. Back in the 90's, I started off with MB Quart Q-series components so I grew accustomed to metal tweeters. After throwing the Quarts in the gf's car, I tried a set of Boston Acoustics Pro 6.53 but didn't feel the tweeters so in went another set of Quart components. Ten years go by and MB Quart is now equivalent to Sparkomatic, I went to listen to some Hybrid Audio gear and again, I didn't feel their silk tweeters. HLCDs never tickled my taste buds either but some people like them. As they say, to each his own.

Infinity, Alpine, MB Quart, Polk Audio, Diamond Audio, and DB Drive all offer great sounding speakers. I sell all of those except for Diamond Audio, but besides DB Drive, you will probably find a better price on Ebay.
I use DB Drive for all my show/demo cars. The prices range from $40 - $110 for a pair depending on the level. They also offer the Euphoria series components that are the same as the Infinity Kappa Perfects and are around $250 per pair.

silk tweets if they are up high...metal if they are in the kicks....
Bring a few of your CDs to a chop, and listen to what they have....you can get a decent feel for the sonic signature of a speaker in a sound room, but it WILL sound different (maybe better, maybe not) in the car. But, you can get a good idea of what you are going to end up with.
FWIW....I love my Hybrid Audio speakers....

Kicker 6.5 coaxial in the rear and then 6.5 components in the front, and place the tweeters in the door with the 6.5s about 8-10 inches away from each other. Makes for a great sound. I have that set up when i had my blue civic and loved it. Kicker is the way to go if you want quality and actually be able to save some money. You are going to be about $200 on the components and $120 i think on the coaxial.

i had pioneer 4 way components, and swapped them for memphis pr's... the memphis were worlds better! i'll swear by memphis speakers now. So i'd say if you want really clean highs so with memphis.. plus if you get a good seller, you can get a really good warranty with them too.

If you want Hybrid Audio gear, they are on sale over at 12V Electronics. It was only $390 shipped for a set of Clarus C51-2. I've decided to give HAT a try so my set will be here sometime today. The sale is approved by HAT btw. Here is the thread with the details of the sale:

I also run HAT and I absolutely love them.
I use to run the Alpine but I was not happy with the overall sound so I took them out and replaced them
I hope this help.

i bought some 2009 infinity kappas myself, and the honestly sound kinda junky.. ive been told an amp will make them 10x better, but i expected more from them even without an amp.. i usually stick to inifnity/polk myself but its all in personal taste.

I would be looking into Rainbow Audio or Hybrid Audio.
I have some Rainbows for sale... Top quality stuff. Not even in the same ballpark as Alpine, Pioner, JBL, JL and all that basic stuff :)
