Autoblog...
More images and details of Alpina's B6 GT3 racer have hit the web, and it looks like despite spending two decades away from motorsports, there are no flies on the leading Bimmer tuning haus.
Based on BMW's 6-Series coupe, the B6 weighs under 3,000 pounds and gets a supercharged 4.4-liter V8 that gives more than 520 horsepower and 535 pound-feet of torque. Backed by a six-speed X-Trac sequential gearbox, the car is reportedly capable of hitting 62 miles-per-hour in 3.9 seconds en route to a top whack of at least 177 mph (a speed it has already reached in testing on the Nürburgring).
The B6 GT3 will debut at next month's Geneva Motor Show before going on to scrap with Aston Martin, Porsche, and Ferrari on circuits around the world. Alpina will field its own team (it is reportedly considering a number of pro drivers), but privateers will also be able to buy their own B6 if they fancy going it alone.

Good to see the powerhouse return. I really hope the Spa 24 is in the cards. That race is the spiritual home of all the great tuners.

^is that a zr1?
Nope. No superchargers allowed.
It is a Callaway Motorsport built/prepared Z06R
check this site for better info on all the corvette cars.

On a ZR1 note, the next C6R will be a 6.0 Liter instead of 7.0 when ot drops to the GT2 class from GT1. Pratt and Miller will be using the ZR1 as the homligation car.
Here's a pic difference.- GT1 C6R............................................... ...........GT3 Z06R

They had something on their website last year about hiring for ALL parts of the program.
Also you can buy the chassis setup and done. Like a Porsche Cup Car.

Let me clarify. I was refering to the Corvette example.
In the GT3 class, a supercharger can be used if it is available on the street car that was homoligated.
That is the case with the B6. The 7.0 NA Z06 was the car that Chevy Homoligated so it cannot.
If they chose to homiligate the ZR1, im unsure how it would be regulated as it is such a large engine. The GT3 technical regulations are not clear about how supercharging is regulated. I know the Ford GT in the series is a Supercharged 5.0L and the Jaguar XKR uses a 4.2L supercharger but the ZR1 is 6.2L and makes over 600hp. The good power zone in GT3 is between 500-550hp. The LS7 makes that from the factory while an LS9 would need extreme air restrictors to get to that number. It would be better if the just stuck with 7.0L
