got a little bit of money from some work i did and i want to start looking into buying another motor for the hatch. curious to see if yall can point me in the right direction as to where i can go and purchase a decent motor for not a large chunk taken out of my ass! looking for a d series...will go vtec if thats what i find.

are there any local or "near by" places i can pick up a good engine that hasnt been raped or simply mistreated? will travel to another state if price is right but if yall can turn me on to some places to contact it would help out alot and appreciation and reps included!

thanks in advance!

You won't find too many D-series engines at any importer. I would just post a WTB ad here on IA, lots of people have them lying around after upgrading.

Ignore the ZC and it's lack of aftermarket. The D has much more of a knowledge-base.

Go w/ the z6 or y8.

i agree d16y8 all the way or you can do a SOHC zc its almost the same as a d series

I would not use a D16Y8 bottom end if I could help it. They have poor oiling. The ideal mini me (imo) is an A6/Z6.

BTW, a SOHC ZC isn't almost the same as a D-series, it IS the same as a D-series.

^^^ if we are talking hybrids --- then I say

z6 bottom w/ a y8 head. :) Sex in a pan. :)

I don't see the advantage of a Z6 bottom end, the head is debatable.

An A6 has a steel girdle and higher compression pistons than a Z6.

not yet it is in the works though. my homeboy who built the motor is coming by tonight and we are gonna talk about it but its already a go. he stripped it completely and replaced everything on it and it has about 500 miles on it then just parked his rex, said he was kinda tired of it nowbut to each his own i say! send me a pm and let me know what yours comes with cause i am contemplating picking up a sedan...if i can find one that is!
