If you expect you'll be getting a refund from California when you file your 2008 state income tax return, be prepared: you may instead receive a "registered warrant." Translation: an IOU.
...

man, that's absolutely crazy! imagine filing your taxes and getting an "IOU" in return. i wonder if the california state government will accept an IOU from people who owe taxes...

I hope it doesn't happen to GA; I've got relatives in CA so it affects me too. I wouldn't live in CA regardless.

so i did a little bit of research, trying to figure out which states have the most delinquent AND highest taxpayers. ironically, no matter what i typed into google, a site for california's delinquent taxpayers continued to pop up. here's the list, and what they owe:

http://www.boe.ca.gov/cgi-bin/deliq.cgi

the list got me thinking...i understand cali's budget is all screwed up, but what if those people on the top of that list paid their taxes....maybe the people who are looking for their returns would be ok.

cali is 16 BILLION in the hole..... those people only make up a small fraction of what is owed.
