Recently I got into an accident and we called the cop which I thought was stupid since it was a minor fender bender and anyways the cop gives me a ticket for following too closely. Now my question is could the cop do that even though he wasnt present at the time and how many points does it go on my license?

You'll usually automatically get a ticket for following too close if you rear-end somebody. If you weren't following them too close, you wouldn't have hit them.

What if they cut you off and slam on the brakes?

OR HIT THE E-BRAKE..
BUT I THINK THE COP WILL GIVE U THE TICKET REGARDLESS, UNLESS HE WAS ON THE SCENE WHEN IT HAPPENED

its a pretty standard ticket and a way for the city/county/state to further profit from you getting into a wreck.

I always found it odd that they could issue a ticket for something they did not witness.

Yeah in Cali, they cant do that. It's odd that they do it here. Oh well can't do anything about that. How many points goes onto my license for this ticket? I thought it was 3 since it was a moving violation then again Im not sure.
