CLUTCH IS BAD, COULD IT MESS ANYTHING ELSE UP?

well i dont have the money as of now for a new clutch, and i was wondering, since my clutch is slipping like crazy, and i can bearly accelerate, but all gears still work, would it mess up anything else driving it like that?

noob question but this is my first clutch in 3 years thats finally slipping for a good 3 weeks now...so i have no knowledge...

see thats the problem, i gotta keep first in high so in second it wont slip, and keep second in high so third wont slip, i have to step on the gas 10/100 of how i would do it, if i press it a lil more than that it slips...

as long as the transmission doesnt get messed with im good

If it were me I would find a way to get a clutch, even if its a Duralast one from Auto Zone for $119. That beats the hell out of driving a car with a slipping clutch.

Or you could call the clutch man. OEM clutches for cheap.

it wont mess anything up other than the flywheel could get so hot that it would crack.

your have to surface the flywheel when you get a new clutch. so as long as you just drive easy and dont try and beat on it, then it should be fine.

the throwout should go bad because of a slipping clutch.

hit up ebay and get an exedy clutch kit...btu..if i were u i'd do a nice upgrade..i had the competition clutch kit stage 1 on my gsr...bawt sax..also, have your MTF changed while ur doing it

normally when i get a customer who cant afford a good higher end clutch i hit them up. there products are straight never had a problem. ive bought many of there gas engine clutch kits and a few of there diesel clutch kits. for a honda it should be like 80-100. u need to bring them your old clutch PP and flywheel. they will resurface the flywheel for u. an then swap out the clutch and pp for theres.

I had a clutch that was burnt to shit, I knew it was almost gone so I had already ordered a new stage 1 exedy and flywheel off the internet.

but I still HAD to drive my car to and from work all week to to install it on a saturday. And this clutch was really really messed up, like the RPM's were at like 5,000 just to move the car forward.

So I was on GA-400 doing about 70 mph and that clutch went. like a friggin grenade that clutch went! it shook the whole car like I just drove over a fuggin landmine or something. So needless to say I call a towtruck to take it too the honda dealership (my friend is a tech there) he drives me to pick up my new parts. And we proceed to unbolt the tranny.... AND OMFG the pressure plate was shattered like a burnt pancake slammed on a kitchen floor!

and (some of the pieces) actually sliced through the transmission housing and ended up inside the starter and destroying it as well!

every mechanic in that place had to come over and inspect the damage in awe

all I kept hearing is "your a lucky man" , "you could have died" "there are plenty of stories of drag racers losing ATLEAST their feet in grenading cluches like this"

apparently the material that makes a clutch and its pressure plate is ALOT stonger than the tranny housing it sits in....SO if your RPMs are say....6000 rpms and the clutch goes. its red hot and will slice through a transmission housing like a hot knife through butter. and the force is so violent that even your firewall will offer little protection from those hot shards of steel depending on how its rotating when it decides to explode.

the moral of the story is REPLACE YOUR CLUTCH asap! dont be like me
