View Full Version : 3000gt for an Isuzu Rodeo?

Straight up trade. I am questioning if I should trade my Rodeo for a 3000gt.

1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT base model
vs.
1999 Isuzu Rodeo

Both are 5 speed
Both need an oxygen sensor
Rodeo is in really good condition inside and out
Rodeo has 140,***
3000GT is in okay edition, needs some work but runs perfect.
3000GT has 145,***

So should I keep the Rodeo or trade for the 3000GT and please tell me why.

I think the base model that year came with the SOHC engine which is gay.

No. The 3000GT is one of the biggest failures ever.

Wait... nvm my previous statement. I think the SOHC didn't start until '97.

I would stay with the rodeo if it is running good, I have seen rodeos' make it to 250k without any major work needed on the car

Almost 4000lb car with 200hp? No thanks. Nothing special about a two seater that sucks so hard. VR4 or no care. lol

Either way, 218hp isn't going to help 3800lbs get around too well. The trooper is atleast spacious. LOL

There is no none of the above, either I keep the Rodeo or trade for the 3kgt

What's there not to understand? Ever heard of right wheel drive?

It's either right hand drive or rear wheel drive. There's no such thing as right wheel drive.

Well technically if the car has an open differential, and a short shaft on the right side of the car, like d-series civics, the right wheel is the main one that turns. So, it would be right wheel drive.

3000gt was based on the same chassis as a mini van. Dead serious. SO it a fail.

Wrong. The base of that year still has the 222hp, DOHC engine.

Well the guy quoted some other car and said right wheel drive so it didn't make sense :taun:

What about their resell value. KBB values my car at $1,500 but there's 3 people that already offered $3,500 for it and the 3kGT's value is at $4,100. So would it be worth it to trade and then sell the 3kGT or?

4,000lbs? Where in the hell do you get your info? Shit, even my VR-4 was only 3650lbs (after I changed out the exhaust).

A 1996 base 3000GT is around 3,250lbs.

So now you have gone from 4000lbs down to 3800lbs. A 1996 base is 3,250lbs give or take.

No offense, man, but get your facts straight.

Haha, but seriously, I think you made the right choice on keeping the rodeo. :)

Yea, I was going off what I remember learning about these cars a few years back. Sorry car guru. But here is what Wiki says, (3,100–3,800 lb), so we're both close enough. Maybe this guy weighs 200lbs. Either way it's not like I said it was like 5000lbs and it was drastically lower.

No, I am dead on while you are 600-800lbs off given your two answers. I owned a '97 3000GT VR-4 for many many years (posted a pic on page #2).

I know a ton about these cars in all models as I make it a point to learn these things. I can assure you that it is just over 3200lbs for the base, '95 model.

Yea, I went to the quickest results. That site is fairly legit on a lot of information. I don't discount your information at all. Just saying, there are models that weighed 3800lbs apparently. An ex-coworker had an NA auto 3000GT and it made 220ish hp and said the manual said it weighed like 3789 or something. But either way, I still say just stick with the Rodeo. Thanks for some knowledge.
