Hey guys, i guess this question would go to kidd or someone who has done this before. I have a chance to get my hands on a k24 out of a 06 accord with 1,000 miles on it. How much will i be spending to have this installed in my '92 vx hatch. i have an ls in it right now. I was looking to see if it is going to be real expensive. i have helped with swaps before but never have i done a k series. thx guys

the K24 accord motor isnt that great. makes alot of TQ but it doesnt have REAL VTEC.

Youll need ALOT

trans, mounts, harness, kpro, shifter cables, fuel system, etc etc etc

The motor isnt that expensive to begine with those k24s can be found for $1000 an under.

Not worth it

why is it everyone bashes the K24s? the lack of "real VTEC" is the stupidest thing ive ever heard.. so it dosent have a VTEC solenoid? yes it is only on one cam, but that dosent make this motor the d15 nonvtec of k series motors.. its just as much work to put this thing in as a regular K20 yes, i.e. wiring, mounts, K-PRO and so forth but the motor is not that bad, and at the price you can get them for, its a somewhat economical way to get yourself into the K-series game... I had a K24A4 out of an 05 accord with a type-S 6-speed and K-Pro, in my 02 Si and the torque was badass..

i personally would avoid this motor for one reason... the EGR setup on these motors sucks ass and makes them hard to work with.. EDIT: the 06's actually had a K24A8, even harder to work with... try and scout out a K24A1 out of an element or CRV, much easier to work with then the accord motors...

And sorry mike if you feel i bashed what you said.. just a difference of opinions.

well like he said, you got to look into header clearance, Transmission to steering rack clearance.... relocate your radiator, get the fuel system... Cut out old mounts, drill frame for new mounts in diff location. Oh and to get all the parts and to do it right... you're looking 8k+ in parts ALONE. Trust me... I KNOW. ;)

Lol if you think the mounts going down in price is going to really free up enough money for this swap you need to re think what you are doing... because obviously you don't know what you are talking about.

why do all the work, spend the same money for half the power?

Its like why put an A3 motor in your civic? it makes 130whp, id rather have a GSR and save $5000

The comment about the VTEC system is perfectly valid. its not REAL vtec, its for fuel economy. So you dont get the power, you dont get the perks of a real IVTEC motor. YOu dont have the cam options that the VTEC motor has, nor the aftermarket support.

The bottom end is weaker, as the rods are thinner.

in terms of performance, its a junk motor. The TSX or A2 motor is VASTLY superior. Its like comparing a ITR to a B16. Sure a b16 is somewhat fun, but its nowhere near its bigger brothers in terms of power and performance.
