Any ideas on brand/models that I should look at. I have some reward points with Bank of America so my selection may not be the "biggest" but let me know if you guys have any suggestions.

Thanks.

And why a D80? Why not a Sony Alpha or a Canon? If you are gonna recommend something then back up why at least. And give a reason other than "it is what I use" :goodjob:

If you're just now getting into photography, my suggestion would be to purchase a nice point and shoot camera. There are so many things that you can do with a D40; however, 90% of them can be accomplished with a nice point and shoot. I purchased a D40 before I was ready to use DSLR. Taking nice photos has very little to do with the camera, and I think you can get a lot more use out of a nice P&S. They are compact, easy to use, very functional, and have the ability to produce excellent quality photos in the hands of the right person. I'm just now getting to the point where I am using my D40 to its potential.

Just something to think about.

Never said you were an idiot. Just that if the specs on the web are confusing you that a DSLR will kill you. It is a waste of money to buy something that you are gonna get flustered by and end up using the auto settings. Get a P&S that has good manual options and learn with it. Then if you want to upgrade once you have pushed the P&S as far as you can, do it.

Well I ended up with this. My brother is a manager at Enterprise R.A.C. and he said this was left in a car from someone and its been over a month so he gave it to me ha. thats good timing if you ask me. Any comments or info on it?? i've looked online and i understand how it works, just getting some other opinions.

That is a good one to learn on. Just play with the settings and if you have any specific questions, ask away.

Congrats on the camera.
