just got into a accident last night some jackass not looking in his mirror backs right into my fender!!! he has geico for insurance i just looked up the kbb value for my car and as you can imagine its not much. my allignment doesnt seem to be off but i def need a new fender corner light and of course paint as well. My question is with the value of my car "stock" would it be better to use his insurance recom. shop which is classic collision or my choice which was going to be vinhs body shop in forest park as i think they would know better what to do with my car as they see hondas all the time. My hood is tilted at a angle now as well. the guy backed into my car id say 10-15 mph give or take on the low end so the damage didnt go to the engine bay.

my cars value "stock" in good cond. is 975 im afraid that they will try and total my car out if it costs lets say 600-700 to fix with paint and all i do not want a salvage title for just damn fender damage!! i know my car is old but there is alot of money invested in this car and i'm unsure what to do at this point before i give his insurance company the ok to tow my car to the body shop

i went through this same hastle with my integra when some idiot didnt maintain his lane and slammed into my front fender my integra is worth alot more so i had some room to argue but its alot different with this older car and im unsure on how to handle it any help would be great as im going to head out to vinhs in about 2 hours to get a estimate pics up in a sec so you can see the damage

I work next to Classic Collison on Buford Hwy if you want to take it there and I can keep an eye on it.

I recommend Your Body Shop. It's down Chesire Bridge Rd. Call 404-817-0833. Ask for Mike (Owner) Tell him Anthony Ferrara sent you. His shop also does Mahndavi (sp) cars.

I had the same thing happen with my crx. The insurance agent told me he was gonna total my car. I told him go fuck himself since my car was sitting in a parking space and we have witnesses and the we had to stock the fed ex truck from fleeing the scene.

He changed his tune with me real quick. I gave him all the receipts I had spent on the car for the past year. They cut me a check for $2100. I bought the car for 1450 and sold it for 1900. I did $50 worth of repairs and I was good to go.

If geico in GA handles claims the same as Progressive, they will find comparable vehicles to the one you have and basically give you the average of the vehicles they found which is sort of a market value. Rarely did they use any of these pricing guides unless it benefits them.....god i hated that job......If there is a dispute in value then the independant appraisers come in....There was a minimum they had to give you for a totalled car...i think it was like $700. If the the damage starts to approach about 80% of the value they might trash it.....Just be prepared for a hassle no matter which shop you use.
