In general it takes about 10 hours, give or take.

10 hours?
First, you need a donor car for pedals, linkage, ect. and different parts for cable and hydraulic clutches.
Second, a lot of cars have a different ECU between manual and auto. and just hope the wiring harness is the same.
Third, a lift to do it all. This is not a up on jack stands/drive way thing.

If you can find the car in a manual, buy it and sell yours. That is the easiest IMHO.

I can be done for under 600 i'm sure.

Find a pull a part that will do some trading with you as I did. You might have to take a loss, but I traded my auto D series trans for the linkage, hydro lines, slave, master, resivor and pedal assembly.

Then buy your trans and possibly an ECU i dont know if 96-2000 need the diff ecu or not.

With trading stuff off, I only paid roughly 150

It isn't worth it. Just use the automatic tranny to shift you from gear to gear, make sure you leave it in neutral so the car will roll back tricking everyone to think you have a stick.....lol

I don't know about places down there. I'm in ohio. A lot of yards will do that, just to get something that has a better resale value. When I told the guy what I had, and what I wanted he was way more than willing to trade me, because he's got more of a chance in selling my auto trans, over the random parts I wanted.
